May 11th 1903 - John Ganzel hits the 1st Highlanders Home Run. As they defeat the Tigers by a score of 8-2. Also his teammate, William "Wid" Conroy hit a HR for the Highlanders. 1919 - Starter Walter Johnson of the Senators pitched 12 scoreless innings in a duel with Jack Quinn of the Yankees at the Polo Grounds. Johnson allowed only 2 hits and retired 28 batters in a row. Future football owner George Halas, batting leadoff for the Yankees, went 0-for-5, striking out twice more... ![]() Have an opinion?
