Spying charges thickens the plot at Women's World Cup
The Formula One men spy upon one another through smoke and mirrors, but some of the women now contesting the FIFA Women's World Cup in China think they are being spied upon through two-way mirrors.
That, at least, is the claim made by Denmark, whose highly rated team is still upset that FIFA, the sport's world governing body, has washed its hands of the case of the two Chinese men apparently caught attempting to film the Danish team's strategy meeting before its surprise 3-2 loss to the Chinese hosts last week. It is serious stuff, because barring shocks, China is likely to qualify at Denmark's expense when the final group games are played Wednesday. "I am in no doubt that FIFA and the Chinese police know who the two men are," Allan Hansen, chairman of the Danish soccer federation, DUB, was quoted as telling the Danish newspaper Politiken this weekend. "I and the Danish federation would also like to know who they are and what went on."
