It's Villa vs. Sneijder as Spain takes on the Netherlands in the World Cup Final (Source: Yardbarker)
The time has come. All the other teams are gone, and right now two are left standing to duke it out to see who will hoist the 2010 FIFA World Cup and coincidentally the winner will be bringing home their country’s first ever Cup. Let’s see how both Spain and the Netherlands made it to the final match.
SEMIFINALS
Game #61
Uruguay vs. Netherlands
FINAL – 3-2 (Netherlands)
By halftime, the game was knotted up at 1-1, but the second half was where the orange of the Netherlands took one step closer to glory. Off goals nearly back to back by Wesley Sneijder (70th minute) and Arjen Robben (73rd minute) the Dutch wound up with a two goal lead. In additional time, Uruguay put in one goal, but it was too late in the game to start mounting a comeback.
Game #62
Spain vs. Germany
FINAL – 1-0 (Spain)
On the flip side from the other game, this contest was more about defense and missed opportunities. Spain was able to break through the German defense in the 73rd minute as Carles Puyol put a header in the back of the net off a corner kick set piece. Germany tried their best to get that goal back late, but it wasn’t in the stars for them yet again, as Spain moves on to the final.
