In an early summer move, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club is in advanced talks with Auxerre regarding the potential transfer of France under-21 striker Yaya Sanogo to the Emirates Stadium.
Wenger’s record of picking up young players from France and developing them into top-class professionals is second to none, and the Arsenal boss has obviously seen potential in the 20-year-old.
Sanogo has impressed in Ligue 2 this season, netting nine goals in 11 appearances for Auxerre. However, his contract is expiring this summer, and the forward is said to have rejected numerous offers from his current club and others in France, in hope of moving to north London.
