Asamoah Gyan happy with the year 2012

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has described 2012 as a wonderful year despite the death of his mother.
The Al Ain striker is topping the goalscorerâ€™s chart after the first round of the UAE Pro League with 21 goals â€“ one shy of equaling his debut tally of 22 that won him last seasonâ€™s Goal King award.
Gyan started off the year in highly disappointing fashion with the Black Stars.
Ghana failed to win a medal at the 2012 Nations Cup where Gyan missed a crucial penalty in the semi finals against eventual winners Zambia.
He later announced his temporal retirement from the national team following the barrage of insults meted him and his family for his second vital penalty miss at a major tournament.
The ex Sunderland hitman returned to the national team nearly six months later and was made substantive captain of the Black Stars â€“ replacing clubless John Mensah in the process.
