David Beckham’s long goodbye began in earnest Tuesday. The L.A. Galaxy star addressed the media for the first time since announcing his intention to leave the club after MLS Cup 2012.
The former England captain said he is ready to face one last challenge as a player, but hasn’t determined what his next move will be. Nevertheless, he’s ready to call time on his six-year stay with the Galaxy.
Beckham’s announcement came one day after the Galaxy clinched a spot in the MLS Cup final. L.A. will host the Houston Dynamo on Dec. 1 in a rematch of last season’s final, and Beckham hopes his Galaxy career will end like his time at Manchester United and Real Madrid: by winning a league championship.
