Steven Gerrard is excited by Liverpool's quartet of new signings and hopes they will improve their chances of making the Champions League. Manager Brendan Rodgers has already done deals for Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, Sevilla midfielder Luis Alberto, Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas and Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. More additions are expected, with Rodgers likely to offload a number of others after selling Andy Carroll to West Ham, with Liverpool interested in Shakhtar Donetsk's £20million-rated midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Gerrard hopes the new arrivals will allow his side to bridge the gap between their seventh-place finish last season and fourth.
