Chelsea will offer Ivorian striker Didier Drogba a chance to take his first steps into coaching by giving him a player-cum-coach role at Stamford Bridge, a report in the Mirror has claimed.
As revealed by Sunday Mirror Sport last week, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants Drogba to return to Stamford Bridge.
He has one year left on his Galatasaray deal, but Mourinho wants him at Chelsea this summer, or in 12 months, if the Turkish club don’t agree to that.
Despite being 35, there is a belief Drogba can keep playing for at least three more years.
Chelsea would also let Drogba start work on his coaching badges and Mourinho would allow the club legend to combine playing duties with working with the young players.
Drogba visited Mourinho at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground while in England for pre-season training.
And he will return with Galatasaray for the Emirates Cup, on the weekend of August 3 and August 4.
