Didier Drogba is set to lead Ivory Coast into the final WC play offs
Ivory Coast has been handed a major boost in next month’s World Cup qualifier against Senegal after captain of the side Didier Drogba was declared injury free, relieving fears back home.
The 35-year-old striker was substituted during his side Galatasaray’s 6-1 home defeat to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday after a collision.
Rumours quickly spread across Ivory Coast that Drogba’s situation was injured and would likely not play against the Teranga Lions in the World Cup qualifying first leg of October 11.
However, reports from the Turkish club say the former Chelsea forward only had severe pains on his shoulder and that there was no dislocation.
He is expected to return to action for Galatasaray next week.
The Elephants will face Senegal in the third and final round of the 2014 World Cup qualifying.
