New Manchester United manager David Moyes says striker Wayne Rooney will stay at the club.
Former Everton manager David Moyes faced the media for the first time since he was appointed as the Manchester United manager, replacing his country man Sir Alex Ferguson who served The Red Devils for almost three decades. One of the main questions that were thrown at the Scottish was the future of the top striker Wayne Rooney’s future at the Club, and Moyes hinted that Rooney is not for sale.“Wayne Rooney is not for sale” said the Moyes who was in charge of Everton for a decade
“I knew Wayne Rooney since he was sixteen, and he is an unbelievable player with a good character. He is a Manchester United player and he will remain a Manchester United player.”
Wayne Rooney only joined the rest of the squad on Wednesday for training and Moyes says he responded very well to his training structure “Rooney has been brilliant at training and he responded very well to my tactics and he came back in a good shape.”
After it was reported in May that Rooney asked for a transfer request, now Wayne Rooney will have to look forward to be working with his former manager at Everton “as far as I am concerned, I am looking forward to work with Wayne and try to bring more success to Manchester United. For everybody’s benefit we will do positives things for this club, and hopefully everything will go according to plan.” Said the 50-yeal old manager.
