Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is desperate to have skipper Fabricio Coloccini back for Saturday's trip to West Ham. The Argentine has been out of action since the end of February but is in line to make a timely return as the Magpies look to ease their relegation fears at Upton Park. And with spirits in the United camp at rock bottom following the 6-0 humiliation against Liverpool, Pardew believes the centre-half will not only shore up their leaky defence but provide some much-needed leadership on the pitch. "I think Colo's important this week, no disrespect to the two centre-halves who played against Liverpool," Pardew told the Chronicle. "I think his leadership is important. Hopefully, he comes through this week, and we can get him out on the pitch with the armband on." Of the two centre halves on duty against Liverpool, Steven Taylor appears the most likely to retain his place against the physical threat of former team-mates Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan.

Pardew's contract under scrutiny

The tone of the announcement when Newcastle United revealed a contract extension for their manager, Alan Pardew, back in September was bright and breezy. They certainly didn't envisage...

Start At West Ham Could Be Key To The Game – Alan Pardew

Alan Pardew has held an inquest with his players, in an attempt to try to find out what’s going on, and why the team is playing their worst football all season, at the business end of the season, when relegation is finally decided. Alan Pardew – in happier times But Alan has a balancing act [...]

Pardew Apologizes – But He’s Now Damaged Goods

After one of Newcastle’s worst performances ever, we expected the apologies to start flowing in – as if that will help our dire situation – and as you might have expected the first apology comes from the manager Alan Pardew. Alan Pardew – hangs his head in shame And we hope that by now Mike [...]

Pardew Can Still Save Newcastle And His Job

It’s hard not to get negative given the results of the last three games – one point and conceding 10 goals and scoring only one – but certainly that’s what Alan Pardew and our players need to do this week, because it’s not out of the question that we can win at West Ham on [...]

Second Home Humiliation Could Mean Curtains For Pardew

Pardew’s Orders From The Board – Save Newcastle

Newcastle: French Revolution not as bright as first thought

This time last season, Newcastle were beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to seal a fifth place finish to a superb season in the Premier League. Papiss Cisse, a £10 million January signing from Freiburg, scored both goals to move up to a total of 13 in his first 3 months in England, and all the adulation was heading towards Alan Pardew and his chief scout Graham Carr for overachieving...
