Luis Diaz has returned to training for Liverpool after knee problems that have kept him sidelined since October.

That's according to David Lynch who claims that sources have told Football Insider that the Colombian has been training with Liverpool's under-21s during the international break.

The Merseyside correspondent reports that Diaz participated fully in a number of sessions suffering 'no ill effects' and is expected to rejoin training with the first team when players return after playing for their national teams.

Diaz has been missing since he sustained a knee problem in the 3-2 defeat against Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates back in October.

After working his way back to fitness, the 26-year-old then suffered a major setback in training during the break for the 2022 World Cup in Dubai which led to him needing an operation.

It has been a long road back for Diaz but it now looks like he is on the verge of a return, providing a huge boost for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

As to whether Diaz is included in the Liverpool squad for the much-awaited Premier League clash with Manchester City at the weekend remains to be seen but if not, it looks like his return is now imminent.
