Steven Gerrard led a rallying cry for England’s under-pressure troops last night - but warned they must not lose their heads writes John Cross in Kiev.
England captain Gerrard was sent off against Ukraine after getting two bookings last September and that is one thing he is desperate for the team to avoid this time.
But Gerrard spoke passionately about the winner-takes-all Group H clash but urged his team mates not to lose their heads in the 70000 Olympic Stadium.
Gerrard said: “You need 11 men on the pitch in games like this that is for sure. I was disappointed to get the second yellow that night but thankfully it was at the very end of the game so it didn’t really have an effect on it. But yes discipline will be very important tomorrow.
