Luis Suarez admits Liverpool have to beat Tottenham on Sunday if their distant hopes of Champions League qualification are not to be ended. Suarez knows, however, they have to beat third-placed Spurs at Anfield if they are to stand a chance. "We've been in good form recently and it's a good opportunity to reduce the gap between ourselves and Spurs," said Suarez, leading scorer in the Premier League with 21 goals. "There is a slight chance we can make Champions League football - and if we want to do that, this is the sort of game we need to win." Suarez goes looking for his 50th Liverpool goal on his 91st appearance, and while he has been the team's outstanding player by netting 28 times across all competitions this season he is ...

Suarez: Stopping Bale is key

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has identified Gareth Bale as the man to stop when his side take on Tottenham on Sunday. Suarez and Bale have been so important to their respective teams - each scoring 15 in their last 15 games - that both the Reds and Spurs have been labelled 'one-man teams' at times this season. The Uruguayan forward has done little to put an end to that...

Rodgers: It's a great victory

Brendan Rodgers hailed Liverpool's 3-2 turnaround triumph over Tottenham as a "great victory" for his team. The Reds were behind to a Jan Vertonghen brace despite Luis Suarez's opener but a second-half equaliser from Stewart Downing and a Steven Gerrard penalty won it for the home side at Anfield. "I think our character in the game was outstanding,"...

Match of the Week Review: Luis Suarez vs. Gareth Bale

Two form teams and two form players for this week’s Match of the Week Review as Liverpool welcomed Tottenham into Anfield on Sunday. Liverpool came into the match having won their past 3 competitive matches by a 12-1 total scoreline, though one of those matches did see them exit the Europa League on aggregate to Zenit. Star striker Luis Suarez entered the match as the leading scorer...

Stewart Downing believes competition for places is the reason for Liverpool's recent upturn in form. The Anfield board sanctioned expensive January moves for Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho, both of whom scored on their full debuts. And Downing reckons the pair's arrival has created an edge in the squad responsible for 12 goals in three straight wins - six of them...

Gerrard glad to beat a top team

Motherwell midfielder Nicky Law admits he would be tempted by a move to Rangers in the summer. Sky Sports revealed earlier this month that Rangers had an interest in Law, who is one of a number of Motherwell players out of contract this summer. And the 24-year-old now admits he would consider a switch to Ibrox - should they make an offer. Rangers are under a transfer embargo,...

Lana Del Rey Makes First Anfield Visit, Watches Liverpool’s Dramatic Victory Over Tottenham

Anfield played host to a rather famous celebrity visitor from the United States on Sunday — pop star Lana Del Rey. The singer, whose album Born to Die charted at No. 1 in 11 countries last year, was making her first ever visit to Anfield to see the game against Tottenham Hotspur, and she turned out to be something of a lucky charm — as the Reds came from behind to win 3-2. Before...

Luis Suarez edged the battle of the player of the year as he eclipsed Gareth Bale in Liverpool's topsy-turvy 3-2 victory against Champions League hopefuls Tottenham. Liverpool comeback stuns Spurs

Steven Gerrard's late penalty earned Liverpool a thrilling 3-2 win over Tottenham in a topsy-turvy Premier League game at Anfield. Jan Vertonghen's quick-fire brace either side of the interval looked to have won the game for Spurs despite Luis Suarez's early goal but Stewart Downing capitalised on a defensive error before Gerrard won it from the spot. Liverpool began...
