Lazio have pulled off a strong summer transfer window, lowering both the average age of the squad and the wage bill.

The Biancocelesti knew that the squad needed to be revitalised heading into this summer transfer window and hard work has been carried out to provide Maurizio Sarri with a more suitable squad for his attacking system. Redundant players like Denis Vavro and Denis Muriqi have been sold, and fresh faces have been brought in.

As highlighted by La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), the eight players signed by Lazio this summer have an average age of 24.6, helping to rejuvenate the squad. The Roman club also wanted to reduce their wage bill by around 10%, or €8 million, as it sat at just over €80 million gross in June.

The eight new signings have a combined gross wage bill of €22 million, which is lower than the €26 million saved as a result of the outgoing market. These savings will be further felt should Francesco Acerbi, Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro and Riza Durmisi be re-homed, which would take the total savings to €34 million total.
