Newcastle manager Alan Pardew says captain Fabricio Coloccini will hold a meeting with club officials next week amid reports the Argentina defender could be on his way back to his homeland.
Pardew is hopeful of keeping Coloccini at least until the end of the season, saying ''we will speak to him and we will resolve that situation.''
British media are reporting that Coloccini, who has been one of Newcastle's best players over the last two seasons, wants a transfer back to the Argentine league for family reasons. San Lorenzo has been linked with the player.
Coloccini showed no sign of his off-the-field issues by playing well in Newcastle's 0-0 draw at Norwich in the English Premier League on Saturday.
Newcastle has already lost leading striker Demba Ba to Chelsea this month.

Things seem to be heating up in the transfer window for Newcastle, with potentially a couple of signing being made this week – we hope so. Alan Pardew - pursuits for players warming up This is what Alan Pardew had to say in the Sunday Sun today: “We are not pursuing just one player, it’s three or four, and [...]
We’ve seen Newcastle lose out in the transfer market more than once because we have been unwilling to pay the fee requested by the selling club, but in his news conference yesterday Alan Pardew said Newcastle would not be outbid on the fee, or the wages in January for their top targets. Alan Pardew – we will not be outbid [...]
Hatem Ben Arfa has risked troubling Newcastle boss Alan Pardew by talking up his hopes of a future move to Paris St Germain.
The forward is back in France recovering from a hamstring injury that is expected to keep him out for another month.
He insisted preserving Newcastle's Premier League status remained his priority but said a return to Ligue 1 with the club he supported...
If we include the 1-1 draw at Liverpool on November 4th, Newcastle have won two and drawn two of their last 13 league games – and that’s 8 points from a possible 39 points played for, so while we are happy to get an away point and a clean sheet, Newcastle still have a lot [...]
Newcastle are actively looking to bring in another center-back, in case Fabricio Coloccini leaves the club this week, and Alan Pardew has said that a decision will be made Coloccini’s request this week – on whether he is allowed to leave immediately for Argentina. We’d be very surprised if Newcastle accede to the Argentine’s request, with a big relegation [...]
We’ve been wondering when Ben Arfa would be able to return to the fray, after he was brought back too early in the Fulham game on 10th December, and it looks like that misjudgment has cost Newcastle the use of the French International for two months, because Alan Pardew has said today he hopes to have Ben Arfa back for the Tottenham game, on 9th February. Hatem Ben Arfa – [...]
Newcastle will sort out Fabricio Coloccini’s personal situation this week, but we’d be very surprised if the club acquiesces to Colo’s demands to move to Argentina immediately, to play for San Lorenzo. Alan Pardew with Colo on the sidelines - but not for long The facts of the matter are that Coloccini still has three and [...]
We thought Fabricio Coloccini had a good game yesterday at Norwich, given all the stuff going on in his private life, and the shocking news on Friday that he had asked to leave Newcastle immediately, to return to South America. Loic Remy – Newcastle in the driver’s seat Alan Pardew has said the matter will [...]
Fabricio Coloccini’s personal situation has affected both his form and his mood over the last two months at Newcastle, and it’s not good when you have the captain’s mind seemingly on other things than football. Fab Coloccini – in action yesterday at Carrow Road But it turned out to be a good move by Alan Pardew yesterday to still play [...]
We had hoped that Adam Campbell would be given a chance in the first team before the end of the season, but that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon, as Adam has been sent back to the U21 Development squad, so he can get some games under his belt. Adam Campbell – sent back to get some games in Development squad And Alan Pardew [...]
After such a poor Premier League campaign, Newcastle could find it difficult to hang on to some of our best players this summer, but it will take big money for Mike Ashley to agree to sell some of our top stars like Yohan Cabaye and Ben Arfa. Ben Arfa - with French squad last summer Alan Pardew had said that late [...]
In his press conference yesterday, Alan Pardew was positive about Yohan Cabaye being on the bus to Norwich, and it looks like Steven Taylor will be ready for the Reading game in a week’s time. Yohan Cabaye - in the squad for Norwich Alan told the press that Yohan Cabaye would be in the squad for the game at [...]
