Steve Cherundolo battles France's Franck Ribery
It was another frustrating day for US Soccer fans as the Yanks fell 1-0 to France this past Friday. On a day that celebrated our nation’s veterans, the team decided to take a defensive position throughout an onslaught of offensive attack from the French. The US battled and battled all game but conceded a goal in the 72nd minute to substitute Loic Remy. After showing much resilience in the first half the US couldn’t outlast France in the second half as Les Bleus turned on the attack in the latter 45 to eventually wear down the US backfield. The US struggled to get anything going on the offensive side, with their best chance coming from a controversial “no call” after Jozy Altidore was held and pushed in the box while trying to speed past the French defense.
