David Moyes is taking a lot of heat in Old Trafford, and rightfully so. However, star striker Wayne Rooney thinks the fire is misdirected. The 27-year-old forward believes the Manchester United fans and media should cut Moyes some slack. Wayne Rooney thinks it’s the players’ fault, not the Manager, for all that’s gone wrong. “Obviously the manager is under a bit of pressure, but we know as a team it’s us who have let him down,” said Wayne Rooney. “We have to pull together for the manager and show the sort of fight we have done here and we’ll be fine. This will be a transition season, because it’s a new manager with different styles and we have to adapt to them. More importantly we need to do better for him than we have been.” Given all the drama that went on between Wayne Rooney and United this summer/in the preseason, it’s a good sign for the Red Devils that he’s the one being so vocal in defending Moyes. If the most high profile player, Wayne Rooney is on board, as he claims to be than everyone else should follow his lead. Unless of course, he’s just giving lip service. United have earned just 10 points from their opening seven Premier League matches under the David Moyes regime. Paul M. Banks is the owner of The Sports Bank.net, an affiliate of Fox Sports.
