Wayne Rooney was one of the biggest topics of the Premier League off-season. His will he stay or will he go drama was the most talked about topic not just for Manchester United, but the PL in general. He started out the season on the bench, and didn’t celebrate a goal with his teammates in the opening blowout win. Then he injured his head and missed time. But eventually fortunes changed for Wayne Rooney. The transfer window expired, Rooney stayed put and the drama was put behind him. And everyone else. And today he got on the board, in an uninspiring 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. A Robin van Persie penalty and a Wayne Rooney free-kick helped Manchester United beat 10-man Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. It was the first home win for Manager David Moyes, who has the burden of following in the footsteps of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. But the main storyline is Wayne Rooney; as it almost always is. He scored his first goal of the season, and maybe that will get us talking more about his game, and less about his contract and health issues moving forward. Despite a disappointing World Cup in South Africa, Wayne Rooney is still undoubtedly viewed as one of the best players in the world. And he should be. Paul M.
