Is Xabi Alonso renewal closer? For Real Madrid and Xabi Alonso, August 21 was not a good day. He broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot , Real Madrid had to learn to live without him. Illarramendi and Casemiro Signed as the stars of the preseason, the renewal of Xabi was too far away. His position seemed covered then; the positions were distant, and no one seemed to want to make an effort to bring them closer. After a month, the “Merengue” has been facing reality. Xabi Alonso is unique. The native from Tolosa is back after his injury. He has recovered his position, and Real Madrid has given way at last to Ancelotti scheme . Xabi looks good . The pain is gone, and the club has realized that they can not let go such a player who has no substitute in the world because he plays as anyone, and nobody plays like him. In this new scenario , the parties seem closer to finding a solution, so Xabi sings a new contract . Ancelotti can find a gift under his Christmas tree because coach, club, and fans know how critical is Xabi for the club. The Madrid doesn’t want to loose time with the issue of renewal of Xabi. More than anything, because, on January 1, the midfielder will be free to negotiate with the club he wants, within the last six months of his contract. Although a few weeks ago his future seemed more abroad than at Madrid, now things have changed, and the renewal is closer than it was before his last injury. Ancelotti is in love Xabi football skills, he refers to Xabi as a professor on the pitch . He consider Xabi’s renewal critical now becasue Khedira’s injury. Now Xabi is indispensable. As much as Ancelotti and the club insist on renewal, the final decision is up to Xabi, which would be a free agent on June 30 and could benefit financially from his departure to another club, as the team hires him would pay a significant premium of signing if it comes at zero cost. Alonso requests remain the same to renew with Real Madrid . Two year contract and improvement in his earnings to put him in the following team salary schedule . The club knows what those requirements and now they must sit down with the player to come to an agreement. The fans are concerned over a possible departure of Xabi. He believes is one of the most beloved players in the stands of Bernabeu. This is another factor playing on Xabi’s favor. He and Cristiano Ronaldo are the only ones that the “Ultras” don’t insult because they give everything on the field. Mourinho hopes for a non renewal of Xabi, but Madrid wants to retain him. Despite his 32 years in June, the problem of the past injuries, Xabi is essential in the field. Xabi loves Real Madrid; he wants a better contract to keep this relationship alive. After all this is his job, this is how he supports his family. There is nothing to judge about that fact.
