And Now, A Word from Our Winner
Ani G won the 18to88 Fantasy League this year. Here is his victory speech.
So….what does it take to win a Fantasy Football Championship? Well, for me it took 61 moves, 19 waiver wire acquisitions, 2 trades, and….. LUCK…. of course. No, not Andrew, I’m actually talking about good fortune/big break/fortunateness/godsend, that kind of Luck.
Now…It is funny how...

Colts Jags Breakdown
Andrew Aziz of Everythng Colts breaks down tomorrow's game
What the Colts Need to Do to Win
On offense, the Colts need to go pass heavy. Dan Orlovsky is gaining more confidence as the weeks go on. He had a great 2nd half last game, and let's hope that carries over to this game. To beat this Jacksonville pass defense, you going to have to be aggressive. You can't...

6 Things to Watch For in Sunday's Colts Jaguars Game
I never get tired of watching this.
Last week the Colts toppled the Texans and turned an otherwise forgettable week 17 game into one of the most important games in franchise history. Or something like that. Here's what to watch for this week:
1. Watch for hyperbole. Look, if Andrew Luck turns out to be Peyton...

18to88 Fantasy Winners
A hearty congratulations to the winners of the 18to88.com fantasy leagues this year.
In the big league, the top three all get prizes.
The big winner was Ani Guri's "3T Shirts". He'll be going to a preseason game with me next year. He can also post anything he wants here on 18to88 (provided he does it this week!).
My good friend and yours Mingjian Chen delightfully...

A Colts Fan Apologizes
This landed in my inbox last week and it cracked me up. Enjoy.
An Open Letter to Colts NationThere’s no getting around it.It’s my fault.Clearly, indisputably, my fault.Forget Manning’s neck injury. Forget the subsequent revolving door at QB. Forget the injuries to Dallas Clark, Joe Addai, Drake Nevis, Melvin Bullitt, Gary Brackett, et al. Forget allowing Clint Session...

The Case Against Bill Polian
I love a good debate.
I love when there are points to be made on both sides, and the dialogue is intense. This season, one of the most hotly debated topics among Colts writers (though not Colts fans) is whether or not Bill and Chris Polian should be brought back in 2012.
I've made my position clear: firing them would be the biggest mistake the Colts could make.
However...

Merry Christmas
A multitude of angels, a band of shepherds, three wise man, two frightened parents, one Baby, one God; some things are worth coming for.
Throngs of hurting people, a host of angry officials, twelve naive disciples, one Man, one God; some things are worth leaving for.
Thunder, lightning, a hill of skulls, three trees, two thieves, one Man, one God; some things are worth...

Painter v. Orlovsky
Some have made the claim recently that Orlvosky has played at a level Curtis Painter is not capable of.
I believe Painter not only played at that level, but surpassed it. Painter's play was never the same after the New Orleans game. Something about that experience damaged him going forward. While Orlovsky is clearly better than Painter was in his last few weeks, he's not better...

Quick Notes On The Win
It's Christmas and I'm exhausted from a long and memorable night. I'm not going spin up a narrative today. You all saw Reggie Wayne with his arms raised.
That's all the narrative any of us need.
My quick hits:
I had my office Christmas party last night a few blocks from the Luke. I kept two tickets in my pocket, just in case. The party broke up just after halftime...

Wednesday Open Thread: So Let's Say...
Let's kick off today's open thread with a little actual writing, shall we?
The outstanding Steph Stradley asked me some questions about the Texans game, and I gave her some answers. Read this for the photo if nothing else, please.
Don't believe ANYTHING the Colts say about Manning or Luck until draft day. They absolutely have to make everyone think they are keeping the...

It's Beginning to Book A Lot like Christmas
There are five more days to Christmas, but there is still time to get your copies of Blue Blood and Invincible, Indiana.
If you order both books from Madison House and want them rushed, send me a note and we'll work out special shipping arrangements. I still have just a few Super Bowl XLI programs left, and will throw one in while supplies last on all orders before Christmas...

Great Footage of a Happier Time
A new film from NFL Films releases today.
Two Minutes to Glory focuses on some of the great comebacks in NFL History, and not surprisingly the Colts feature prominently.
The movie is over 100 minutes long and includes most of the truly memorable drives in NFL history. I was especially glad to see my all time favorite non-Colts game included. There was great stuff from the...

The Tie Breaker
Here's my math on the Colts Strength of Schedule Tie Breaker scenario.
Currently the standings are like this:
Indy 120-103
Minnesota 127-97
Saint Louis 130-90
After the jump, the following chart shows all remaning games and how they total if things go as badly as possible for Indy, while the Colts still go 1-1.

Wins for Christmas, Let's be Glad
Since it's Christmas, let's be glad Even if your life's been bad There are presents to be had
They won.
In the span of three minutes in the third quarter, the Colts emerged from their long winter's nap. Dan Orlovsky finished off a touchdown drive with his only good throw of the day, but what a throw it was. He dropped the ball into the outstretched hands of Reggie...

Where Barnwell Went Wrong
Many have asked me to respond to Bill Barnwell's piece in Grantland about the Colts. Most of it has been addressed on this site before, but I wanted to give a cliff-notes style response to his specific arguments.
Barnwell is one of the best NFL writers around, and one of my absolute favorites. This was not his best work, however.
ARGUMENT #1: The Colts collapse began in April...

Who to Root For: Week 15
With three weeks left, the Colts hold a lead in the strength of schedule tiebreaker in the event they win two games and wind up tied with the Rams and Vikings for the worst record in football.
As of now, the strength of schedules look like this (calculated for the entire season's schedule, worst record wins):
Colts: 115-96 (.545)
Vikings: 119-90 (.569)
Rams: 121...

6 Things to Watch For During Sunday's Colts Titans Game
Tread carefully, Jake.
Last week, Dan Orlovsky returned to earth and the Colts were waxed by the Ravens. This week division rivals the Tennessee Titans come to town. With only three chances left to win a game, can the Colts pull it off? Here's what to watch for this week.
1. Watch a truer test. Dan Orlvosky...
