Peter Forsberg apparently has decided not to play for Sweden in the upcoming Karjala tournament, a European round-robin thing Nov. 5-8. Not sure of all the details as to why not yet, but he hadn’t been included on the roster for Sweden because...

Craig Anderson will get the start in Vancouver. I’m glad I didn’t assume Peter Budaj would finally get his first start. Andy won’t face Roberto Luongo. He’s out with a cracked rib.

The ’80s rocker Greg Kihn – “Jeopardy”, “Breakup Song”, “Thunder Road”, sang the national anthem tonight before the Avs-Sharks game. Insert punchline here. OK, even Kihn had more hits than the Avs tonight on the Sharks...

John Liles is back, as the video above attests. I get a lot of requests from my female readers for more Liles video, so click away.
Also, here’s a bit of video from today’s morning skate, with Peter Budaj making a couple saves.
Let’s be friends: Adrian Dater is...

Zippity Doo Da! My, what a wonderful day here in sunny California (shot from the hotel room above). Birds are singing, coffee’s percolating and there is hockey tonight. Does it get any better?
Glad to be rid of yesterday, when I ruined my shoes walking in the snow at DIA, forgot...

So much for my reportorial hunches on the Avs goalie situation for Friday night. Craig Anderson will get consecutive start No. 14, against the San Jose Sharks.
Peter Budaj is with the team and feeling fine again, but he’ll be on the pine. Tyler Weiman...
Galiardi Out indefinitely

Joe Sacco said last night he didn’t think T.J Galiardi’s ankle injury was serious. He’s back in Denver today getting his ankle “re-evaluated.” Listed as out indefintely. And they wonder why people get cynical about injuries. That’s all I know for...

Many of you already know this, but in case you didn’t: whenever a pilot comes over the intercom and says something will take a certain amount of time “and then we will be on our way” multiply the time given by four and that’s your real departure time. Absolutely...
Budaj in goal at San Jose?

I think that’ll be the case, but hopefully we’ll know for sure later in the day from San Jose. That is, if I make it to San Jose. I’m not real optimistic about my flight from DIA leaving on time this morning, especially when it looks like Antarctica out my bedroom...

I’ve gotten more than a few queries about a video a while back that Canadian sports network TSN did of Matt Duchene on draft day, how/where people can see it. Click on the video above. It’s still fun to watch.

Still getting the hang of this iPhone 3GS thing sometimes. Had a nice spiffy two-minute chat with Tyler Weiman today, and I wanted to trim the last couple seconds off it. Instead, I trimmed all but a few seconds of the entire video. Gone forever, vaporized into nothingness, unable...
Hendricks has groin injury

Matt Hendricks is now added to the Avs’ injury list, with a groin pull. That’s partly why Chris Durno was recalled last night. That’s six regulars on the injured list now, plus Peter Budaj, who stayed behind in Denver with the flu. Some good news though: John Liles...

Chris Durno, one of the final cuts in training camp and Lake Erie’s leading scorer with six goals, was called up by the Avs and is at practice today. Darcy Tucker was put on injured reserve, retroactive to Oct. 23.
Peter Budaj is still out with the flu and not around the team.

Oh yeah, that’s why they say goaltending is the most important position in hockey. Unbelievable performance by Craig Anderson tonight. Best goaltending performance I’ve seen around these parts since a certain guy who wore the number 33 was here.

Three-game suspension for Carolina’s Tuomo Ruutu on the Darcy Tucker hit. I predicted 3-5, so the NHL came down on the smaller side. Ruutu will forfeit $59,067.36 to the NHL’s emergency player assistance fund.
As I said before, though, it was a suspension-worthy hit, but...
