That's All Folks
As you can tell, my blogging has become nearly nonexistent over the last year or so. Every once in a while, I throw up a post, but nothing consistently.Instead of pretending that I am an active blogger, I have decided to close the blog.I will continue my quality start tracker on the blog because it interests me, but I wouldn't expect much more than that...some more than that...

I Can't Wait
I can't wait for Arod's return tonight.Posada is hanging out on the DL.Teixeira is sucking up the joint.Swisher has gotten on base in like every game, but has been slumping like whoa.Cano is 0 for his last million.Even Jose Freaking Molina is hurt. The Yankees need Arod, and they need him now.I don't care what he may or may not have done in baseball past (I care very little...

Double Plays, Blown Saves, and DL Stints
Joba did not pitch fabulously yesterday, but he was aided by his good friend the Double Play Ball. He had roughly 15 of them in his 5.1 innings of work. Ok, so the Red Sox only hit into 4 double plays, but the Yankees also hit into 3 double plays. I can't remember seeing 7 double plays in a game...I'm sure I have, but it seemed extra notable yesterday. Those double plays...

Opening Day --Take 4
Today, April 16, 2009, is the Yankees official Home Opener of the 2009 baseball season.I'm sure I don't have to mention it, but I will anyway, the significance of this particular Home Opener is the Inaugural Season of the New Yankee Stadium (yes, capitals).Festivities for the event begin in about 10 minutes.I, unfortunately, am playing receptionist for some extra cash and...

Must. Not. Press.
Unlike Sabathia, who had a complete reversal of his first start in his second, Chien-Ming Wang imploded again last night.Every game counts, and I would love to win all of them, but it just isn't possible. I know it is cliche to say "relax, it's April, it's still too early," but seriously, relax, it's April, it's still too early.Wang's track record...

Three Games is Probably Not a Trend
So the Yankees started the season 0-2 and have since gone 3-0.To this I say, three games is probably not a trend. In the first 2 games, the Yankee ERA was a sparkling 9.56.In the following 3 games, the Yankee ERA was a sparkling 1.33.Call me crazy, but I suspect that for the overall season, the team ERA will be somewhere in between the two....hopefully closer to the latter than the...

Two Games Is Probably Not a Trend
I just want to point out that two games is probably not a trend. So the team ERA is currently sitting at terrible. So the team is 0-2 and 2 games back of the first place Orioles. So Mark Teixeira has one measly hit. So the Orioles really should be a team we can beat up on while Tampa Bay and the Red Sox beat up on each other. So what to all those things. Two games is not a trend...

"I Was Young"
Basically what this whole press conference is boiling down to, is Arod is blaming his steroid use on being young and ignorant.I'm not sure how much I buy that. He was 24 or 25 when he started in 2001. As I write this, I am 23 and I know taking random (and I think the press conference is making it clear that the drug was fairly random) drugs is stupid. Of course, I can'...

Third Down
If this game did not allow 3rd downs, I think the Giants would have won. (Of course, there is still a little more than a minute left, so I suppose it is technically possible for the Giants to win.) I mean, the Eagles couldn't do anything on offense before third down, so the Giants defense forgot that they had to cause a stop then too. Also, the Giants couldn't convert...

Don't Vote
I have been a bad, bad, terrible blogger this baseball season. Since the Yankee season has ended, I have been an even worse blogger. I had all kinds of opinions about the World Series (disappointed the Rays didn't win; not surprised by the incredible lack of ratings), unfortunately I have just been way too lazy or not near my computer when inspiration hit.Anyway, the other...

What a Weekend
Now that baseball season is officially over for Yankee fans, I can turn my attention fully to football. Ok, so my attention has been on football for 6 weeks, but none of that baseball stuff gets in my way anymore.Anyway, what a Week 6 for the NFL. 5 games yesterday were decided on the final play. I almost, ALMOST wished I had the DirecTV NFL package just so I could have enjoyed...

The Final Game
If you go to MLB.com and click under standings, you will notice something that hasn't appeared next "New York" (at least on the AL side) since 1994. There is a tiny little "E" underneath "elimination #." For the first time in 15 years, the Yankees will not see a playoff birth, and so, tonight will be the Final Game at Yankee Stadium (and yes, I...

Irrelevant
So for the first time in roughly 15 years, the Yankees are irrelevant. With just 2+ weeks of the season remaining, the Yankees have no chance of winning the division, the wild card or anything. Hell, they may (probably?) finish the season in 4th place. The 2008 season is over. Now, the only thing I have left, is to root for individual accomplishments. Mike Mussina, for example, is...

Road Tripping
Wow the Yankees really sucked in the last 19 games. I was hoping for a 13-6 record (which considering the Red Sox went 11-9 would have picked us up a few games in the standings), and instead the Yankees went 9-10. They couldn't even get a game above .500.I'm finding myself thinking more often than not that the Yankees truly suck. Now, however, they are in the middle of...

Pitching Strong
Man, I love having a good pitching team. The Yankees' bullpen was one of the best in the majors (well without looking at any stats, and just thinking about how freaking successful they have been...though I believe they have some obscene record when leading after 6), and then Brian Cashman did the unbelievable job of improving it by designating LaTroy Hawkins for assignment and...

Limping
The Yankees enter the All Star Break limping. As I write this, the Yankees are 6.0 games out of first place, and 5.5 games out of second.I suppose one could look on the bright side and say that on July 13, 2007, the Yankees were 44-44 and 10.0 games out of first place.Maybe I forgot how I felt last year at this time, but at the moment things are feeling more hopeless. Perhaps it...

Morgan Ensberg: Number 11
Earlier in the year, I made a post about the retired numbers for the Yankees. It was inspired by the fans' reactions to Morgan Ensberg wearing the unofficially retired Paul O'Neill's 21.Well don't worry. Morgan Ensberg will not don the number. Instead, he has taken the recently released Chris Woodwa...

Prospects!
In recent years the Yankees have put a real focus on the farm system. It led to Damon Oppenheimer taking over draft duties each year. Since he has taken over, Baseball America has ranked the Yankees' drafts as one of the best each year (yes, a lot of it has to do with them flexing their financial m...

Quality Start Tracker
We know the Yankees will have a damn good offense this season with a good chance of it being the best offense in baseball as far as runs scored is concerned. The question with the Yankees team is the rotation. People felt confident with Chien-Ming Wang and Andy Pettitte on the mound, but spots 3, 4, ...
