AMERICA LEAST TO SHUT DOWN
Ladies and Gents. I have been with this blog for a while. However, I also have many things that I am working on in my life. It is with great sadness that I write to you and tell you that come the end of September, America Least will be shutting down. We are not being forced out by anyone. This is a personal choice. Since Drake handed over the keys to me a while back, I have done...

The Brook has flown across the big brook
It's been awhile, busy with school and work but I'm back and ready for basketball season. Stony Brook was granted the opportunity to play in Europe this August and are currently in London where they will play in England's own version of Midnight Madness. This really is a huge advantage and opportunity for Stony Brook as they were able to practice for a week prior to the...

AE Updates: UVM lands recruit; Texas and St. Louis added to AE OOC Schedule
I have been traveling across the northeast this summer, so updates have been very limited. For that I apologies. However, we have had a major transfer to the AE. Well, major if you are a UVM fan. Marist guard Candon Rusin, a native son of Vermont, has transferred to UVM. He will have to sit out this upcoming season, per NCAA rules, but will have two years of eligibility for the Catamounts...

Celebration time Boston!
Wait, what did I miss? O that is right! As the city of Boston continues to celebrate an NHL championship, our favorite Boston team (which is team #30 I think on the cities "We Care About You" Sports List) announced today they have a new coach. The school announced that Joe Jones was the newest head coach for the Terriers program. After a long search, the answer was only...

Hartford-Texas Pipeline starting to flow?
Does Hartford have the potential to have a nice flow of recruits from Texas in the future? People may want to start thinking about playing this song at Chase Arena...This week the Hawks signed their third recruit out of Texas for the upcoming season. It maybe a long way from Hartford, but the pipeline to Texas looks wide open to me.Also, the AE announced this week that Hartford will...

Maine signs two for next year
Despite all the bashing, Woodward keeps doing his job. Maine announced yesterday that they have signed two players for next season. Both are international players, as Woodward taps both the Canadian and Serbian markets. Justin Edwards and Zarko Valjarevic both come in with excellent resumes.Edwards, a 6'2'' guard, scored over 3,400 points with Anderson Collegiate Vocational Institute...

Filian leaving UAlbany
Interesting news breaking this even out of Albany. The Albany Times Union is reporting that UAlbany assistant Pat Filian is leaving the university to pursue other opportunities. Filian has won five America East Championships as an assistant coach since 2003 (three with Vermont and two with the Great Danes). A very interesting move. This is me just speculating, but maybe he has interest...

Becker given the keys...for now
Last night Vermont announced that assistant John Becker will be the interim head coach for the basketball program. There is no timetable for when a full time coach will be announced. Becker is considered a candidate for the head coaching position.A very smart move by the Catamounts. This will hopefully preserve the recruiting class and give fans some confidence over the summer. It...

Mike Lonergan may be gone, but UVM is a hell of a job for a top assistant with a strong recruiting base. Do not be surprised if Vermont sees a benefit from this in the next two or three years. Quality applicants will abound.Who doesn't want to take over a team that went 23-9 with a strong recruiting class? We geezers will stay up for this one.Vermont's Lonergan takes George...

A few weeks back, Stony Brook announced that Steve Pikiell was signed to an extension until the 2015-16 season. Nero out as AE Commish
Was trying to find a really good YouTube clip for his departure. After much thought, this was the only one I could really find...I know, it is cheesy. However, I think this was what Nero was singing. He has left the America East to become Athletic Director at George Washington University. His tenure with the AE is over. Once AD at Maine, he now leaves us for good. Is it a loss or...

I'm outta here!
Murphy Burnatowski has left Maine. The school announced last week that he was transferring and Maine was giving him his release. That now means that the Black Bears are losing five of their top eight scorers from last season.Burnatowski sat the final four games of the season for the Black Bears. From what I can see, a rift was created between Burnatowski and Woodward. In being asked...

With a trip to Tulsa, the season is over
Not going to lie, before tonight game on TBS started, I was thinking about the following...However, the game tonight was all she wrote for the America East. The 2010-11 season is officially in the books. They fought tough, but Kansas was just way to much for the Terriers. They fell tonight 72-53 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It was a long shot, but the #16 seed could...
