Rich Harden calls Paul Sullivan a stone cold liar. Okay, so he didn’t say that exactly, but it’s obvious that Sullivan’s sources are out of the loop, and that Sullivan has a callous disregard for facts.
Despite what Yellon, Sully, and Wittenmeyer are saying,...

From last night’s recap:
Bradley looked so disinterested during his second-inning strikeout that Piniella yanked him after the third. Piniella downplayed it afterward, saying it was only a double-switch.

I wasn’t watching last night’s game closely enough to know if Zambrano did show up Bobby Scales or not. What I do know is that Bobby Scales faked a throw to home to try and get Ryan Braun to take off to 2nd base. Braun, rounding first, was looking right at Scales and...

As we’ve documented here in the past, Frumpy Hobbit Paul Sullivan has already admitted, on live TV and in print, that he cannot conform to the ethical standards of his profession, in that he provides intentionally poor coverage to athletes he feels have slighted him. And he...

Bruce Miles on the rumors the Cubs are shopping Carlos Zambrano:
Anyway, if the Cubs are indeed “shopping” Carlos Zambrano (and people in the Cubs’ baseball operations department say that information is not coming from them), they better be thinking things through.

Cubs to be stupid this winter

MLBTR quotes the piece of **** Paul Sullivan who says the Cubs plan to shop Carlos Zambrano this winter. Ken Rosenthal reported this first so it does appear to be legitimate. I have no idea why the Cubs would do this. Zambrano is owed a lot of money and given the ****** economy...

A great article on Soriano today over on BtB.
A few key observations from the article:
Soriano had a ****** year in LF (no surprise there)
Many of Soriano’s underlying batting statistics were the same this year
The big difference was a 5% drop in LD rate, which led to...

Per Bob Nightengale of McPaper, the Diamondbacks are unlikely to pick up Webb’s $8.5mm option for next season, making him a FA. Nightengale claims that they will try to work a 1-year deal with him, but since he’s been pitching since 2003 I’m pretty sure he’...

The Brewers have been the anti-Cubs this year, personality and media-wise. A lot of Brewers fans had fairly high expectations for the team going into the season, though there were some worries about their rotation. They made the playoffs last year and have gone a LONG way to revitalizing...

How come nobody can figure out that Lou Piniella is already signed to be the manager of the Cubs for the 2010 season? There are even people at the company that owned the Cubs at the time of the contract extension can’t figure it out. And now Yahoo can’t figure it out...

Alfonso Soriano’s surgery on his knee is scheduled for Tuesday and will obviously be done for the season. He should be completely healthy by spring training so let’s hope the 2009 season was nothing more than an awful season caused by his knee injury.

According to MLBTR, Ken Rosenthal said the Cubs could trade Zambrano this offseason in a recent video on foxsports.net
