Cincinnati 41 Connecticut 0: 10 Thoughts

The Bearcats shut out victory over Connecticut can not fully pass without a write up. I very much apologize for the delay in this post. It seemed like I wrote something about it. It really did. There was the tweetcap. To put a bow on this one, here are 10 thoughts from the dominating victory. This was the best defensive effort of the Tuberville era. UConn sucks and all that, but...

Cincinnati 59 North Carolina Central 50

Last night’s slow down affair showed us a newer side to the Bearcats. It was a side that could be very efficient offensively. UC threw down 1.20 points per possession on North Carolina Central, now referred to as Central and NCC. This was the second highest scoring output from the Bearcats this season in by far their slowest game. Some of that pace was because Central was very...

Strickland Suspended

Jamaree Strickland was not on the bench last night. He was not even in the arena last night. That’s because word came down that he is suspended indefinitely. The money quote is from Joe Danneman: Cronin: Jamaree Strickland is suspended for "conduct unbecoming of a Bearcat." @FOX19 — Joe Danneman (@FOX19Joe) November 26, 2014 Cronin didn’t offer up more beyond that...

Bearcats Grind Past Eagles 59-50

The Bearcats last game before Thanksgiving ended with a 59-50 win over North Carolina Central tonight. The Cats used a season (and career) high 12 points from Gary Clark to push past the Eagles. Clark was 3-5 from the field and 6-6 at the line. He also had 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Octavius Ellis added 11 points and 8 boards in the effort, while Kevin Johnson, Jermaine Sanders and...

Cincinnati Bearcats vs North Carolina Central Eagles Preview

The Bearcats are set to take on North Carolina Central for the second year in a row. This is part of the Emerald Coast Classic, a tournament that doesn’t matter because the 4 name schools play each other anyway. Cincinnati has made it through their tournament kickoff game unscathed. The same can not be said about NC Central. They were 20 point losers to Creighton on Sunday. Central...

Jeff Luc: American of the Week, Houston Game Time and TV

Let’s start with the second football note first. TV Update for 12/6 Houston at Cincinnati (Noon ET, ESPN/ESPN2) Temple at Tulane (7:30 ET, ESPN2) SMU at UConn (Noon ET, CBSSN) — American Football (@American_FB) November 24, 2014 A nooner, yes, but it’s an ESPN game nooner. On day full of championship games, this is a good tradeoff. I’m assuming no championship game will...

Cincinnati 54 Eastern Illinois 49

Occasionally a reminder is needed that these are college kids playing a dumb game. Most of them aren’t going to end up playing in the NBA. Some will play in Europe or other spots around the globe. Some will move on to other professions as soon as their playing days are over. Our lives will change as well. We will have more and more going on and our level of caring drops a bit....

Previewing UConn and Eastern Illinois

This weekend offers two of the least exciting games on the Bearcat schedule this entire year. Tomorrow the Bearcats football team plays Connecticut. On Sunday afternoon, my birthday (expecting a shout out during the telecast Tom and Terry), the basketball team takes on the worst opponent they’ll play all year in Eastern Illinois. Some could say that the games are snowflakes, we...

Bearcats BlogCast: Episode 9

Welcome to episode 9 of the Bearcats BlogCast, the weekly podcast with myself and Chris Bains from Cincy on the Prowl. Just a little note, Chris and I aren’t recording a podcast next week due to the Bearcats playing on Tuesday and the Thanksgiving holiday. If something major comes up, we will try to throw one together. If not, enjoy your Thanksgiving. On this week’s edition of...

Cincinnati 69 Morehead State 61

Game two was another victory for the mighty Bearcats. It was a much needed game I believe. The Eagles aren’t the best team in the Ohio Valley, but they are no slouch. They are a team that has won and can compete. They gave the Bearcats all they could handle last night. When you have a young team learning to win, winning is very important. If the guys know how to close now, that...

Cobb Leads the Cats Soaring over the Eagles

24 points from Farad Cobb powered the Bearcats over Morehead State tonight, 69-61. Cobb hit 6 three pointers, most in the second half, that helped UC get up on the Eagles. The three ball was flying as the Cats hit 9 of 22, 6 of 14 in the second half. Jermaine Sanders hit a couple when Morehead State was bringing the heat to start the second half. Octavius Ellis put up 16 points thanks...

Cincinnati Bearcats vs Morehead State Eagles Preview

Game two of the college basketball season brings hope that the Cincinnati offense isn’t quite as rocky as they were in the season opener. Morehead State brings an interesting challenge. The Eagles were up 11 with 17 minutes to go at UNLV before losing by a point. The Eagles also beat Cincinnati Christian by 8 points while giving up nearly a point per possession defensively. Granted...

UC’s Fox Sports Ohio Telecast Schedule

Cincinnati plays a certain set of games televised by FSN Ohio. That starts tonight. These are the games where Tom Gelehrter and Terry Nelson call the action. These games fill the void in Bearcats TV coverage for the remainder of the season, except for the Middle Tennessee game on November 28. These games are also going to be available on ESPN3 if you don’t get FSN Ohio in your...

Let’s Tour Tommy Tuberville’s Office

His coin collection is probably cooler than yours. Also, stick around to the end when Tommy G calls country music “Country and Western” in the nerdiest way imaginable. Come for the office tour, stay for the kind of awkward heaping love of Joe Paterno.

Cincinnati 52 St Francis (PA) 37

Dog ass ugly would be a good way to describe Friday night’s season opening win by the Bearcats. Any time a defensive performance is so strong, it tends to make games ugly. The Bearcat defense on Friday was out of this world good. St Francis made 12 field goals and 9 free throws. They countered that by having 21 turnovers. The Bearcats themselves turned the ball over 17 times and...

Reports: Ralph David Abernathy IV Transferring to Tennessee

The rumors ended up being true. Wes Rucker of Tennessee’s 247 site says that Cincinnati running back Ralph David Abernathy IV will transfer to Tennessee in January. This was confirmed by Abernathy’s father. The rumors of Ralph David joining his brother Micah sounded like they had a lot of smoke behind them, and they did. RDA IV was at the Tennessee game today when the Vols hosted...
