New Launch Pushed Back
Just wanted to let everyone know that the launch of our new look on our new network is being pushed back a few days. Rather than trying to rush everything to launch today (as was originally planned) and having stuff not look exactly the way we are wanting, we are pushing it back a couple [...]

Falcons Day 3 Notes & Observations
With only a morning session on the Falcons' training camp schedule today, I had to make sure I made it out to check out practice, especially since the Falcons were in full pads for the first time today. No tackling today, but finally able to hear the crack of the pads...ahhhhh...refreshing.
Overall, there was a decent turnout for a Monday morning where the dew was on the ground...

Falcons Day 1 Observations
Yesterday, I made the long drive to the Atlanta Falcons training camp...all 2.5 miles of it.
I stopped by for the first practice of training camp about 45 minutes into the 8:45 AM early start, but when I realized there were nearly 800-1000 cars parked at the high school that is located across the street from the training complex, I thought it better just to return home and then...

We are currently in the midst of a complete site overhaul, including a new custom banner, the implementation of our logo, some new features, a new blog network, and a brand-new and awesome appearance, so I decided it would be a great time to create a new tagline.

Politicization of Tiger
One of my favorite columnists on National Review Online, Jay Nordlinger, recently brought to my attention a speech delivered by Tiger Woods during the inaugural celebrations in January (pgatour.com). He referenced this speech while refuting comments made by Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown that Tiger shirks his public [...]

Breaking Down the 2009 All-Star Selections
Earlier today, Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 80th All-Star Game being held in St. Louis at the new Busch Stadium.
The starters were determined solely by the fan vote once again, unfortunately. Note my displeasure when I previously wrote about who I was voting for.
Nevertheless, we wanted to do what we hadn't seen anywhere else and break down the selections...

Attempt to Kill Manny Goes Awry
Not only are the San Diego Padres one of the worst teams in baseball. Not only have they been outscored by 94 runs this season (the second worst margin in baseball behind only the lowly Nationals). But it appears the Padres can't even pull off a simple "hit" on Manny Ramirez because they can't read a calendar.
Ramirez is set to make his return from his 50-game...

Calling Out for Help
I’ll just get straight to this — Major League Baseball’s All-Star voting system sucks! The deadline for voting is today and some deserving players are getting screwed.
In a game that is supposed to have implications on the World Series, fans are given the right to select the starters of the All-Star Game, and the fans [...]

Thursday Throwback: Len Bias Draft Tragedy
As Bill Simmons astutely observed in a 2001 ESPN.com article, 1986 was a time when Michael Jackson did not yet look like an alien, Gretzky and the Magic/Bird combination were the kings of sport, kids were playing Atari, and, most importantly, Ronald Reagan had his hand on the button.
However, not all was blue jeans and [...]

This Week in Fantasy Baseball…
* The Red Sox have finally removed Dice-K from the rotation after another putrid start against the Atlanta Braves where he allowed 6 runs. Matsuzaka has a season ERA of 8.23 and WHIP of 2.20. He has single-handedly destroyed some fantasy pitching staffs, and it looks like the 100 million dollar import will be on the shelf for a while. Examine the starts of John Smoltz, and always...

Fantasy Baseball Report - Buy Low
Most MLB teams have played roughly 38-40% of their season, and with the season being a little past one-third of the way over, we have enough at bats and innings to decide on which players you can target to help your team win a fantasy title, or which players you might need to sell high, based on a track record of potential second half flop.
We will start the fantasy baseball reports...

Another ’ship in their storied history
Shouldn’t cause this type of misery
But celebration and joy has turned into pity
As people try to destroy the city
Barbarians or gladiators need not pillage
For it is the idiots of their own village
Instead of the typical high-fives & hugs
Someone evidently gave them drugs
Or maybe a hospital [...]

One Year Ago on The Blue Workhorse
One year ago on The Blue Workhorse it was the day after the benches clearing brawl between the Rays and Red Sox when Coco Crisp pulled a Matrix move dodging James Shields haymaker only to get pummeled in the pile. Heisman discussed the fight as well as some other less than flattering baseball fight moments.
