Balls
The Purdue Boilermakers were just dismissed from the NCAA basketball tournament. This marks the end of the basketball career of Chris Kramer, an Indiana boy from Huntington that was widely regarded as the best perimeter defender in the country. His heroics in the tournament were well documented, so I won't get into them. I will say that I appreciate what Chris Kramer...

Unbeaten but not Unbeatable
The big news this week was that the Colts remained unbeaten and the Saints did not. The Saints were beaten by a good team, that had some heat built up, and Brees was still almost able to bring them back into. The Saints were alive down to the last few seconds of the game. If they get demoralized and fold, I will be really disappointed because this team has a ton of talent and...

Colts v. Jags thoughts. St. Louis Cardinals. Judo.
Â
Â
The Colts travel south to take on the Jags Thursday night in a game that means everything and nothing. The playing time situation is in everyone's mind. I think the Colts will go for the win. If they get up big they will bring the starters out. I would hate to see them bring the starters out if they get down early, though. I think that kind of capitualtion is tantamount...

Colts Remain Perfect. 22 Regular Season Wins Only Means Something to ESPN Because They Can Advertise It
This regular season wins streak thing is just total ********. Does anyone else see that? Who cares if you got hat last season and started this one hot? Neither was perfect (yet) and neither ended up in a SB win. Can you really carry a win streak over between two seasons when they are divided by a playoff loss, in particular an embarrassingly one-sided loss? Its nonsense...

Indiana v. Kentucky
Okay, that wasn't the world changing win IU fans were hoping for, but that wasn't the horrific loss it could have been. IU was in it for 23 minutes, and that was about 22 minutes more than some folks thought they would be. The rebounding attrition took its toll at the opening of the second half and KU was able to get their momentum, but I am not disappointed.Â

Indiana gets big win, Kentucky on the way.
Pitt is not what they were last year, but they are a good program from the Big East who was, untril last night, 7-1 with their only loss to a talented Texas team. It may be easy to say that last night's win was the biggest of Crean's tenure, but does it represent a turning point? Is IU now relevant again? Hype says yes, but...

Cobra Brigade Angst Update
In a wonderful example of the direction this ******* experiment is
taking, Cobra Brigade got spammed in its comments section by a
Clenbuterol salesman of some kind. I don't know a whole lot about it
outside of its use with horses. In the horse world, you give it to an
animal that suffers from the heaves. I don't know what the scientific
name for the heaves is, sorry. It is...

Sportstastic.
On Saturday night, Hot Tub, Shortround and I went to the Bloomington South High School basketball game against New Albany. It was a match up of the #1 and #2 teams in Indiana Class 4A basketball and featured 5 division 1 college recruits. Four of those play for Bloomington South! Purdue recruit Donnie Hale is the lone standout in New Albany, and he has real promise in mattÂ...

Colts v. Pats: Hindsight
The cell phone was abuzz Sunday night as Racha, HT, and the GM were staying in contact during the course of the game. Was it a nail biter? I was way past my nails and three quarters the way up my forearm. I had a few things in mind.
1. When things get stale for New England they go to Kevin Faulk or Wes Welker.
2. More than a minute is enough for Peyton Manning.
3. Tom...

Cobra Chronicles: Greatest Halftime Speech Ever
The game starts off a bit wildly as both teams are trying to set the tone. They are playing up-tempo to try to take advantage of our depth issues. We are settling for perimeter shots because our big guy is out. It's probably not the most beautiful game of basketball to watch but the crowd is bringing their 'A' game tonight and turning up the intensity.
'The Beast' gets a quick...

How to Hit a Baseball: The Landing
Again, I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet, just like how your stride and 'landing' should be. When you 'coil', your front foot should have either moved towards your back foot or stayed in place (preferred). Keeping the front foot in place obviously cuts down on moving parts in your swing. So now your starting to move towards the ball to hit it with force and you're wondering...

How to Hit a Baseball: The Coiling
Hitting a baseball all about timing. They've actually been talking about this quite a bit during the Yankees/Angels series as Mark Teixeira has struggled and his timing looks off. If your timing is off then your swing is going to be out of whack and you are going to struggle to get hits.
At this point in the series I have you standing in the batter's box with your focus on the...

10 Paineful Questions NFL WEEK 6
1.      What does a 5-0 team like the Colts do on their bye week? I ask this since we know that struggling teams will look to mix things up by changing QB's, packages, etc what does an undefeated team do?
Sleep, rest, take the week off as best you can by cutting down on practices and meetings. Guys still have to lift and watch tape, and the coaches still work like idiots...

How to Hit a Baseball: What Are You Looking At?
See ball, hit ball, right? Seems pretty simple but so many people either don't focus enough or have a clue as to where they should be looking when the pitcher is throwing the ball towards the plate.Conventional wisdom tells us to just look at the pitchers release point but with so many pitchers varying their release points these days, and for good reason, I'm going to take Tony Gwynn...

How to Hit a Baseball: (Head)ing Where?
In simplest terms I'm just going to tell you to not have any head movement while you hit. Yes, your eyes will move, but not your head. If your head starts moving up and down or side to side then it's going to throw off your perception of where the ball is and where the ball is heading (no pun intended). A hitter does not track the ball with his head. Period.
Take that picture to...

Peyton Manning is the best player in football. Part II
Its not just what he is doing, it is who he is doing it with and how they are doing it. It isn't that he is surrounded by bad players, indeed, the Jeff Saturday's and Reggie Waynes of the world are legitimate stars. The Dallas Clarks and Ryan Diems are very good. ****, these guys played on scholarship. You know what I mean? But these guys just look great right now. His...

Peyton Manning is the best player in football.
Lots of teams don't even have guys that could legitimately be placed in that argument, and I am glad my team does. Long story short, though, with Brady still a bit shaky and Brees not being tested by anyone other than a Philly team with Kolb and a gimpy Westbrook it is hard to say that anyone is really doing the things at the QB position that Manning is. In addition, I don't...

Pretty Lordlings. Ty pops OUT. Colts smooth criminals.
Quick update from the Brigade.
Â
The Colts season has kicked off well, not great, but well. Lets face it, that Miami team played the best game they had played in years against the Colts. They executed a flawless gameplan. Manning just didn't feel like losing. When we HAD to have a touchdown, we went and sniffed one out. Props to Pierre for the motor skills and vision. ...

Answers from the Groom
Ok, here are things people are going to ask you or things that you should look out for so that your wedding doesn't become a nightmare.
1. What kind of gift should we get you? I can't tell you how many times I've been asked this. First, we have a registry. Second, we like cash. Third, if I get sent another crappy ashtray or homemade ice cream maker.....let's just say I'm not going...

NFL WEEK 1!
Â
With the NFL opening up I want to get back to blogging a bit. I appreciate Jack filling in the gap as I have been out of the game for a bit with my schoolwork and softball schedule really dominating my shedjule (that is "schedule" only with a Captain Picard accent). I am just going to run down my picks for the week and comment on what offenses will delight and which ones will...
