So maybe the Tigers are 0-3 at the hands of the Kansas City Royals thus far in 2008… but at least no bloodthirsty hawks are attacking the fans of Comerica Park! 13-year-old Alexa Rodriguez was attacked by a hawk while on a tour of Fenway Park, once again reaffirming that it is best for any A-Ro...

18 Exposure.Detroit members ready to enter Tiger Stadium

Demolition is coming. The auctions are up, seats for sale. It is a very busy beginning of the week for me, so rather than make a poor attempt at trying to catch up on the weekend’s action now, let’s stop for a moment and remember Detroit sports history. Tiger Stadium was the [...]

Recently, I was told the movie 61* was in the DVD bargain bin.  “That’s the movie they shot in Tiger Stadium!” I reacted.  Of course, I had to get my own copy, and after watching the movie, I must say it’s a must-see for any baseball fan, casual or die hard.  The story foll...

I was driving away from picking up food the other night and saw this on the sign....I ordered a zesty hoe , but to my surprise they were all out.

The World Series is upon us.  Yes, the Tigers failed to make the playoffs this year, which is a major downer.  Well, as it snows at the home of the National League Champs and the BoSox prepare to host the Rockies in the 2007 World Series, there is a light for everyone in America.  If [...]

Coach Rod at his 12/17/2007 News Conference accepting the Michigan Head Football Coaching job.

After pulling from the West Virginia ranks to find a head coach for the mens basketball team in the spring, Michigan has taken another sip of the Mountaineer Kool Aid by hiring Rich Rodriguez as the replacement for Lloyd Carr, who announced his retirement after the Ohio State game.  The Rodriguez a...

Unfortunately as you have all noticed, Detroit Sports Unleashed has fallen into complete disrepair since the start of the school year.  I have been a very bad blogger, I will not deny it — there simply are not enough hours in the day.  Somehow my hours at Subway have more than doubled, and I ...

During Boston’s game two victory over the Rockies, Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury stole second base, which means that everyone in America is eligible to receive a free taco from Taco Bell.  Those who are interested can get their crunchy seasoned beef taco on Tuesday, 30 October 2007, between t...

Big Ten Network

While Michigan has not had the best season in the program’s history, it may be having one of the more memorable in recent memory. Still, it is hardly even noticeable to thousands of people because of the horrid TV coverage situation. The 2007 campaign has featured a record-breaking upset at t...

On Tuesday I had a great opportunity to speak with the editor of The Flint Journal for a career-related school project. Being somewhat interested in journalism, the local newspaper seemed the most logical place to conduct the mock interview, and a worthy career to look into. I was pleasantly surpri...

Scoreboard!

Michigan and Notre Dame. If you had told me both teams would start the season 0-2 before it actually happened, I would have called you crazy. Still, today was the battle of the surprise winless teams, and, regardless of the weeks before, somebody had to win. Fortunately that someone was Michigan ...

Snowy Detroit

Alright, I apologize for the abandonment of my blog, but fear not — DSU shall persevere.  I have no plans to stop blogging, however do not be surprised if posts continue to freeze up until the end of the school year.  Working part-time and going to high school is a combination that does not ...

Red Wings Score

A few months ago, the debate was raised amongst Michiganders — is Detroit still Hockeytown?  For a short period, it looked as though hockey had passed its Golden Years in the Motor City.  The Pistons were poised to make another deep playoff run, the Michigan Wolverines had a highly ranked fo...

Certainly a Pistons classic — Rasheed Wallace’s remix of an old seasonal favorite.  From DSU to you, happy holidays, regardless of which you may celebrate.  While at least a year old, this clip is still good for a little laugh.  Rasheed and the Pistons are off to a 20-7 start, secon...

As most Americans are already aware, Senator George Mitchell released his report on steroid use in Major League Baseball this week. If you choose to read through 400 pages of investigation and legaleze, by all means be my guest — I want a full 10-page summary on my desk by tomorrow morning. ...

Granderson's Catch of the Day

In case you missed this amazing catch by Curtis Granderson in Sunday's game against the Red Sox, here it is. A few of his teammates called it the greatest catch they have ever seen in person. Wily Mo Pena's deep flyball had already soared over the wall in left-center when Granderson leaped, and simply reached back and took it back. Incredible!

An Ode to Detroit

Playoff wins, walk-off homers, and victory parades. Those are a few of Detroit's favorite things? It seems as though things never slow down in Michigan's largest city. Detroit is one of America's largest and proudest cities in many aspects, however on the sports stage, there is perhaps no place better.

West Takes All-Star Game, NHL Still Largely Unnoticed

While the NHL All-Star Game may have been entertaining, the league still has many issues including unbalance scheduling and bad TV deals. It's tough to sell the game when Sidney Crosby may only come to your town once every three years or more.
