ST. LOUIS -- Even as a member of the Cubs, it will be hard for Cardinals fans to root against Jason Motte.  The former Cardinals closer is leaving St. Louis for a one-year, $4.5 million deal with Chicago, but right-hander made sure to show his appreciation on the way out for the only organization he's ever known since being drafted in the 19th round in 2003.

Life doesn't get any easier for Mizzou with visit to No. 22 Oklahoma

With a quick glance at Oklahoma's difficult opening schedule, one might have considered Missouri as a team that would at least pose an interesting threat in its first return to Norman as a nonconference opponent. The Tigers' early season play has done nothing to back that up, and their struggles could carry into the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Friday night against the 22nd-ranked Sooners...

Every experience matters: Billikens drop hammer on D-II Rockhurst

ST. LOUIS -- You can say this about the 2014-15 Saint Louis Billikens: They beat Rockhurst University by more points than did last season's team. This season's freshmen-heavy Billikens blew out Rockhurst, 80-48 Tuesday night at Chaifetz Arena, a 32-point margin that was seven points greater than the 68-43 victory registered by last year's senior-laden squad. So can we conclude that...

Ex-NFL center-turned-farmer delivers own son: 'Incredible experience'

Jason Brown had no real farming experience when he retired from the NFL a few years ago, but the former center didn't let that stop him from buying a 1,000-acre farm to grow food for the needy.  He just made it work. Likewise, when Brown's wife, Tay, went into labor Tuesday -- and their midwife was still en route to their North Carolina home -- Brown did what he had to do and delivered...

On the plus side, concussion gave Oshie a chance to reboot

ST. LOUIS -- There's never a good time to have a concussion, one of the scariest and most dangerous injuries in sports. And it certainly didn't look good when Blues forward T.J. Oshie collided with the goal post in a 4-3 overtime win at Dallas, especially considering he was already off to a slow start with just one point in his first eight games. Alas, some good might have come from...

Surprise against Broncos keeps Rams afloat

ST. LOUIS -- At times, it looks like an 11th straight losing season for the St. Louis Rams is a done deal. Heyward instantly adds more pop to Cardinals' lineup

ST. LOUIS -- After finishing with the fewest home runs in the National League last season, the Cardinals could use a power boost. He also hit 14 as a 20-year-old rookie when he finished with a .277 batting...
