Whose To Blame For Lack Of Running Game: Matt Forte Or The Offensive Line?
Could it be that the Bears running back Matt Forte is having a sophomore slump?
Maybe... Maybe not.
It could be the offensive line's fault or Matt Forte's fault. Maybe
Forte is just not running hard enough. I think it is a mixture of both.
The Bears have three new starters on the offensive line, left tackle
Orlando Pace, left guard Frank Omiyale and right tackle Chris Williams...

The Bears Offensive Line Has Been Protecting Mr. Cutler
After
two games the Bears have given up only three sacks, while the Green Bay
Packers have surrendered ten and the Minnesota Vikings have given up
seven.
These statistics are amazing considering how bad the Bears offensive
line was last season and looked during week one against Green Bay.
The additions of Orlando Pace, and Frank Omiyale look like their
paying off. Well, Omiyale and...

Is Jay Cutler The Next Rex Grossman Or The Next Sid Luckman?
You can't blame Jay Cutler for the loss can you?
I would say no, while others say yes. Why do I say no you ask?
Well, the Bears came out in the first quarter and didn't establish
the run. They went away from what they are known as, a run first
offense. They got all enamored in what Jay Cutler can do with his arm,
instead of doing the right thing.
Who should you blame for...

Breaking News: Urlacher Out For The Season
The Chicago Tribune confirmed their report that Brian Urlacher will mis the rest of the season. Here's what they had to say:
"Brian did have surgery this morning and he is out for the remainder of the season," team spokesman Jim Christman said.
Urlacher himself told the paper via text message that his "season is over."
This is a really bad break for the Bears...

Report: Brian Urlacher Out 4-6 Weeks
According
to Footballoutsiders.com, Bears MLB Brian Urlacher will miss 4-6 weeks
after undergoing surgery on his dislocated wrist.
That means Hunter Hillenmeyer will fill in at that spot. This could
be a real test for him, the guy was in the doghouse last season. The
Bears need Urlacher back, but they should definitely wait until he's
healthy, this is a bad break for him.

Week 1: Bears-Packers Preview
The
Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers will meet for the 178th time
tonight. The Bears currently lead the all-time series 91-80-6.
Since his hiring in 2004, Head coach Lovie Smith has recorded a 7-3
record against Green Bay including a 4-1 at Lambeau Field. The Bears
got demolished in Green Bay last season, 37-3 and won in overtime at
Soldier Field 20-17 (I was at that game).

The Starting Safeties For Week One Will Be?
The
Bears started Kevin Payne and Al Afalava at safety through the
preseason, maybe because Danieal Manning was out with an injury, but
maybe not.
Lovie Smith has confirmed that he will use Danieal at kick returner
and nickelback this season, but before his injury this preseason, he
was said to be the starter at free safety.
The Bears have loved what they've seen from sixth round...

Warrick Dunn To The Bears?
Could veteran free agent running back Warrick Dunn be on his way to the Windy City?
Would he be a good fit with the Bears? Well lets take a look at what the Bears have right now behind Matt Forte.
The Bears recently lost backup running back Kevin Jones for the
season with an ankle injury in their final preseason game against the
Cleveland Browns.
The Bears currently have two year...

Same Old Story for the Bears' Pass Defense
Last season, the Bears defense proved to be incredibly strong against the run while also being amongst the worst in the league in pass defense. This became all too apparent in week 17 against the Texans as Andre Johnson torched the Bears for 148 receiving yards and two touchdowns, crushing playoff hopes and exposing a season-long weakness. For even the average fan, the cause...

2009 Bears Preview
Lester Wiltfong is on staff at Windy City Gridiron and he's the featured Bears blogger for The Sporting News.
Chicago Bears 2008 Recap:
Last year the Bears were a Kyle Orton injury away from being in the playoffs. You can call that statement wishful thinking, or me being a homer, but you can't deny the way Orton played before his injury (he was starting to come into his own...

How Cutler will improve the Bears
Jay Cutler will improve the Chicago Bears. Anyone suggesting otherwise is either putting too much weight into a quarterback's career W-L record or an eternal pessimist. What remains to be seen is whether Cutler can turn the Bears from a fringe playoff team into a Superbowl contender. Last year, Kyle Orton gave the Bears a great performance, surpassing all expectations and...

Week 17 Preview - at Houston Texans
I don't know if I can take much more of this. Two straight gut-wrenching overtime victories in the last two weeks have me ordering this for Sunday's game, because I'm positive the Bears are trying to kill me.Following this team is like being in an abusive relationship. Every time you find the reason and courage to leave, they do something that makes you remember why you...

Week 16 Preview - vs. Green Bay
Five weeks ago, Green Bay eviscerated the Bears at Lambeau Field 37-3 to move in to a tie for first place in the NFC North, seemingly positioned for another run at a division title. The Bears seemed badly exposed by the blowout loss, looking bad in every possible way. The playoffs were the farthest thing from anyone's mind that Sunday.
Fast-forward to now and the Packers have...

Week 15 recap - Well . . . that was fun
I wonder if the Bears included Dramamine as part of their season ticket package this year, or if they've made it available at Soldier Field for home games. For the cost of going to a Bears game these days, the least they could do is give you a way to fight off the motion sickness this team is sure to induce.
The Bears sure opened the game with a bang, with Devin Hester Danieal...

Week 15 Preview - vs. New Orleans Saints
With the Bears playing two games in four days this week the format will be a bit different, with double doses of offensive and defensive recaps coming after the Bears host the Saints on Thursday night.
The game is a must-win for both teams, with the playoff hopes of both teams on life support. Both teams check in with 7-6 records, but the Bears are a game out of first place in their...

Week 14 Recap - Bears fend off toothless Jaguars
An underwhelming matchup between a mediocre and a bad team Sunday was essentially decided on the first possession of the game, when David Garrard mistook Danieal Manning for a fellow Jaguar and hit him right between the numbers, setting the Bears up on the five yard line right off the bat.
Even this offense couldn't find a way to screw up such a golden opportunity, and Kyle Orton...

Week 14 Preview - vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
I suppose the "REAL real season" starts this week if you ask Lovie Smith. The Bears' playoff hopes are on life support, could very well not be enough. Minnesota is firmly in the driver's seat in the NFC North, needing only three - and likely only two - wins in their final four games to clinch the division and keep the Bears out of the playoffs for the second consecutive...

Week 13 Recap - Prime-time Poseurs
It'd be easy to say the 99 yard touchdown from Gus Frerotte to Bernard Berrian, following Minnesota denying the Bears on four scoring chances frrom the one yard line, swung the momentum towards the Vikings and forever altered the outcome of the game. But that's probably something of a cop-out, unless you're one of those people that still hates Charles Tillman dating back...

Week 13 Preview - At Minnesota Vikings
I don't know if it's possible to overstate how important this game is, in very different ways, for both of the teams playing on Sunday night. For the Bears, it's a chance to put a serious crimp in Minnesota's plans for a division title and playoff spot. A victory here gives the Bears a decisive advantage in the event they tie for the same record at the end of the regular...

Giving thanks for the good on the Bears.
I intended to run this piece yesterday but between playing my own football game and then driving a couple hours to spend time with my family, I was just wiped out. While the Bears have been a mixed bag this year, there's still a lot to be thankful for, more than I anticipated at the start of the season anyways. As a Bears fan, I'm thankful for Kyle Orton, who has provided solid...

Week 12 Review - Offense
Shortly after the Bears drafted Matt Forte, I was trolling around some of the message boards Bears fans frequent. While people were generally happy about first round selection Chris Williams, they were lukewarm at best about second-round selection Matt Forte.
Now, I don't follow college football very closely, so I had never heard of Forte before the Bears chose him in the second...

Week 12 recap - Rams run over
Well, that was different.
Coming off last week's lackluster - and that's being polite - performance against Green Bay, the Bears made a bunch of noise about it being a "new season" and yammered on incessantly about being the best defense in the league "when they decide to be" and generally made any sane fan wonder if the Bears needed to be restrained via...

The season starts when?
Evidently the Bears have a different take on the NFL schedule from the other 31 teams in the league.
I think what's most irritating about Smith's comments about the season starting over with six games to go is that I'm not surprised, or even really all that angry. I mean, this is a team that can't even manage a game clock, so why should anyone expect them to know...

Week 12 Preview - at St. Louis Rams
If ever a first-place team faced a must-win game against one of the worst teams in the NFL, it's this week in St. Louis.
As the Bears like to remind everyone, they ARE a first place team. But of all the division leaders in the NFL, no one has more questions about them than the Bears, and they can go a long way towards answering some of them this week in St. Louis.
But for the...
