Random Giants Notes
Well, not all that random. Here are a few things that have transpired in the last few days….
Ahmad Bradshaw is now the NFL’s leading rusher. They mentioned it during the game Monday night, but I had to look it up to be sure. Yep, Bradshaw has 708 rushing yards. That’s more than Adrian Peterson (one less game), Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, Maurice Jones-Drew...

Giants Knock Cowboys, Romo, Out
Well, not literally. But the G-men dropped the Cowboys to 1-5 with a 41-35 win that wasn’t really that close. The Giants made a lot of mistakes, yet did more things right. Oh, and the Cowboys just aren’t very good. So much talent, yet they just don’t seem to be trying as hard as the other team. That of course stems from their head coach, who has to know...

How Awesome Would It Be….
To beat Dallas Monday night and essentially end their season?
And let’s face it, if they are 1-5, with games coming up against Indy, Philly twice, Washington, Giants again, Green Bay, and New Orleans, they’d be lucky to finish 7-9, let alone 10-6, which is likely what they’d need for a playoff berth.
However, 2-4 gives the Cowboys a jolt, a shot in their collective...

The Season is Just Beginning
So now that we’re through six games and the Giants are 4-2 and tied for the NFC East lead, it all gets interesting and intriguing now. Not that the Giants ever play boring football games, but let’s face it–they’ve had Detroit and Carolina on the schedule. But this Monday, the season really begins, as the G-men travel to Dallas to take on their fierce division rivals,...

Lord & Taylor Chalk Talk Series Continues October 20
If you ever wanted to get up close and ask one of the Giants some questions, Lord & Taylor’s Chalk Talk series is a great opportunity. As part of a promotion for Carl Banks‘ G-III series clothing on sale at Lord & Taylor, Chalk Talk continues tomorrow night, Wednesday October 20 at 7pm at Lord & Taylor at the Garden State Plaza in New Jersey.
And the Giants...

Trap This
The Giants survived the dreaded trap game yesterday, beating the Detroit Lions 28-20, with a collective assist from the Detroit Lions, who kind of looked like the Giants looked three weeks ago against Tennessee. That is, the Lions were a kind of bumbling, kind of stumbling, bunch of mistake-makers who failed to take advantage of solid play by their third string QB and their Pro...

Giants vs. Lions Preview
So here we go, another big game tomorrow, one that we can hopefully escape with a win to reach 4-2 heading into the Dallas game. There, I just did it…I mentioned the next opponent without mentioning the current opponent, the Detroit Lions. That’s exactly what I don’t want the G-men to do tomorrow….or the words “trap game” will become real. ...

Don’t Look Too Far Ahead
You’ve been hearing it ever since the Giants crushed the Texans, 34-10, on Sunday.
“Trap game.”
It’s a term that basically means that the Giants may expect to coast to victory against perennial doormats the Detroit Lions. In other words, they could be coasting as such and have a trap door appear out of nowhere and stick them with a big “L” instead...

Total Annihilation: Giants Crush Texans 34-10
Did any of you see this coming? Sure, the Giants’ defense played awesome against the Bears last Sunday, but the Texans’ offense posed a different set of problems entirely. Not only did the Giants have a terrific defensive performance again, despite still playing without Mathias Kiwanuka, but the offense was mostly awesome, too. Even special teams play was better...

Giants vs. Texans preview
The Giants face the Houston Texans for only the third time Sunday. They lost to them in 2002 in the Texans’ inaugural season, the same year the Giants went on to the playoffs and lost that heart breaker to the 49ers. Then they beat them in 2006, in a defensive battle, 14-10. This Sunday, it’s more likely that the game will be along the lines of 34-30. Then again...

Critical Stretch
As we talked about before the 2010 season began, the Giants have a very difficult schedule. And it’s mostly back-end difficult, as they play the Eagles in late November and again in late December, and have a ridiculous last six games against Washington, Minnesota, Philly, Green By and Washington, with three of the last four games being on the road. Yikes.
But before we...

So What Happens Next?
They’re not an easy team to read, our Giants.
They played sloppy in the first game against Carolina, trailed at halftime and came back to win 31-18. They were annihilated by the Colts in Indy 38-14 on Sunday Night Football, and pretty much did nothing right in that game, being dominated on both sides of the ball. Then they out-gained the Titans by 200 yards and played decent...

Wow–Giants’ D Dominate Bears on SNF
No, I did not see that coming. Did you? The Giants, despite not having Mathias Kiwanuka or Keith Bulluck, dialed up some of the best pressure on a QB they have had since the Super Bowl season, sacking Jay Cutler 9 times and knocking him out of the game by halftime, and then knocking backup Todd Collins out too, forcing the Bears to put their number 3 QB Caleb Hanie in. Our...

Any Given Sunday
While the walls are closing in around us with each injury report, we can’t do much but laugh and hope for the best. Mathias Kiwanuka, who has a bulging disc in his neck and could potentially miss the rest of the season, was our best defensive player the first three games, so his loss on the field is, well, sort of devastating. But it gets worse. Keith Bulluck is doubtful...

5 Questions with Adam Oestmann of Bears Hibernation
We did this a bit last year and when Adam of fellow Fanballer and Bears Hibernation approached me, I remembered that I forgot to start this back up. So here we are. Adam and I interviewed each other about our teams and the upcoming game Sunday night, and here is my interview with him about the Bears. My Giants interview on his site is available here. Enjoy!

Giants vs. Bears preview
Well, it’s hard to think positive after another debacle at home last Sunday. And while I’m not picking the Giants this week, I’m going to try and find some semblance of positive things here.
OFFENSE
While the Bears are 3-0 and the Giants 1-2, the Bears have the 11th ranked offense (5th pass, 29th rush) while the Giants have the 8th ranked offense (9th pass, 14th...

One Thing Giants’ D Must Stop
The one thing the Giants’ defense must stop is that they have to stop giving up so many points. In watching them play this season, at times they have looked excellent stopping the run. And at least against Carolina, they looked very good against the pass too, Matt Moore throwing ill-advised passes or not.
But after three games, the Giants have allowed 85 points, which ranks...

Losing Faith in Giants Fast
There are lots of things to feel good about even in the wake of one of the worst regular season showings in Giants’ history. They out-gained the Titans 471-271, had 26 first downs to 17 for Tennessee, didn’t punt the ball once (maybe a good thing); and aside from a 42-yard run in garbage time, held Chris Johnson to 2.67 yards a carry. Eli Manning threw for 386 yards...

About As Ugly As It Gets
Usually I can put bad Giants’ losses behind me. Last week they were out-played, out-coached and out-everything-ed and were blown out of the Manning Bowl. I can live with that better than I can live with yesterday, when they gave the game away with numerous personal fouls, turnovers and overall dumb mistakes on their way to a 29-10 loss to the Titans. The stats show that...

Giants vs. Titans Preview
I have vivid memories of that game in Nashville in 2006, because I was living in Nashville at the time. My wife got us tickets to the game and I was thrilled to see my G-men in action. I was more thrilled when they went up 21-0, only to endure a painfully amazing comeback by Vince Young and the Titans in the final, like, 7 minutes of the game. It was ridiculous, and I really...

Brandon Jacobs is Full of Crap, but…..
So Brandon Jacobs threw his helmet into the stands Sunday night in Indianapolis, by accident. He meant to throw it at the bench, where we’re assuming none of his teammates were sitting. The NFL fined him $10,000 the other day, and we know he got an earful from Tom Coughlin Sunday–and then Coughlin didn’t allow Jacobs back into the game.
Yesterday, Jacobs addressed...

Giants Party Like It’s 2009; Lose Badly Sunday Night
I can’t help it. That game Sunday night vs. the Colts reminded me and all of us fans far too much of the end of the 2009 season. After riding somewhat high following a season opening home win against Carolina, the Giants laid a giant egg Sunday, losing 38-14 in a game that wasn’t that close. I had the opportunity to watch the game with my Dad in New York the day...

Giants vs. Colts Preview
Well, the Manning vs. Manning bowl is here. I’m nervous, plain and simple. Are you? I mean, after the win over Carolina last week, we’ve seen how well the Giants’ defense can play. But this is a new week, and a much more prolific passing offense. Let’s go…..
OFFENSE
If Ahmad Bradshaw can do half of what Arian Foster did to the Colts’...

Four Years Later….
Okay, so the Giants have a win under their collective belt. The team is 1-0 and tied for first with Washington while Dallas and Philly temporarily (or hopefully not) are in last at 0-1. Silly stats, right?
Well, a win is a win and we all feel good now. But Sunday night we have to travel to Indy for the Manning vs. Manning rematch. Four years ago, the Giants were a bit of...

A Win is a Win and We’ll Take It
Thank you very much, Carolina Panthers. Thank you for playing sloppier than the Giants. Thank you for letting us beat you up in a way that was truly deserved after you stomped on us this past December in “old” Giants Stadium. The Giants won yesterday, 31-18, and while it was ugly at times, it was a win. And there was a LOT to be encouraged about.
THE GOOD
