If my math is correct, UND forward Rocco Grimaldi becomes the 35th UND hockey player to be selected to play for his country in the WJC.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota freshman forward Rocco Grimaldi has earned a roster spot on the United States team that will compete at the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship Dec. 26-Jan. 5...
Tis the season to be jolly… For me personally, Christmas is one of the most wonderful times of the year. While I am not a big fan of cold weather and snow, I do love NHL and college hockey and ice fishing.
I have many things that I am thankful for… I am lucky to blog about of the best hockey teams in the nation with best fans in the world. I would like to thank the fans....
This past week, the University of North Dakota Hockey team received some very good news as they got commitments from two highly touted and much desired big time recruits (Shane Gersich and Austin Poganski) from the Minnesota Golden Gophers back yard.
Some Minnesota fans seem to think that this is a serious coup d’état and very unacceptable and very even hard for them to stomach...
I like numbers and stats and I was perusing a few today. First, while I realize that the Pairwise Rankings mean nothing until selection Sunday in March after the Conference tourneys, the current numbers can give a snap shot of where the various teams in the WCHA stand right now.
As far as strength of Schedule goes, UND has played the 5th toughest schedule to date. Their Schedule...
Christmas season is one of my favorite holidays of the year; it’s a great time to hang out with hockey before the second half of the season begins. It’s also gives a person time for some reflection on the past year.
This holiday season, the UND hockey team got two very nice additions to their future line ups.
Personally, I don’t usually follow a player until they...

I don’t think it’s too early to start this post – half of the college hockey season is over already – soon the second half of the season will be upon us. It won’t be long until the hockey pundits will be talking about the end of the season awards that go along with the culmination of the NCAA...
Interesting video, some good information here. The USA WJC team should be better than last year's team that finished a disappointing 7th place.
Another day and another day of no NHL Hockey... Check out this swing and a miss, Atlant's Artyom Dorofeyev attempts to check Mats Zuccarello of Magnitogorsk Metallurg and ends up in the players bench area.

I was listening to UND Hockey and between periods the voice of UND Hockey, Tim Hennessy was interviewing hockey guru Jess Myers of ESPN 1500 and Jess made mention of the Holy Cross series that's coming up at the Ralph after the first of the year and whether UND fans would still cheer Holy Cross when they’re introduced.
So do you think that UND fans will cheer Holy Cross...
Former Fighting Sioux forward Matt Frattin scores this goal for the Toronto Marlies against the Rochester Americans with under 10 seconds to go to tie the game. The Marlies would go on to be the Rochester Americans 4-3 in a shootout. Frattin would also score a goal in the shootout for the Marlies.
Frattin missed 12 games to start the season recovering from knee surgery and...
Canadian’s defenseman P.K. Subban guarantees that we will have a season.
“We will, we will,” Subban said. “Guarantee we will. I think so. I think so. I find it hard to believe we lose the season on contracting rights and CBA length… “
I sure hope that P.K. Subban is right.

I have sometime's wondering if this is what's going to happen. I was wondering if the NHLPA will realize they can no longer get anymore out of the players and sign an agreement.
Bruce Garrioch,OTTAWA SUN --- The NHL and NHL Players' Association have turned to a dangerous game of chicken...
MADISON, Wis. – University of North Dakota forward Corban Knight, who led all conference players with six scoring points as his team fashioned a two-game road sweep over league rival Michigan Tech last weekend, is the Red Baron® WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for Dec. 18.
A 6-2, 200-pound senior center from High River, Alberta, Knight had three goals...
Each week, I participate in a WCHA Web Media Poll that is put on by the Tech Hockey Guide with 11 other people that represent both the print media as well as the hockey blogosphere.
This will be the final WCHA Web Media Poll till 2013. This week, there is a new number one team. The Green and White from North Dakota are ranked number one with their impressive 4-0-1 run during...
The wonderful time of the year, the WJC is one of the best hockey tourney's on hockey. As the No Hockey League owners continue their squabble with the NHLPA; at least there is going to be hockey on the NHL Network this winter.
It's also nice to see that there will be rebroadcasts of the games in the evening at reasonable times so we can see the games an not have to get...

There are a huge number of companies operating today that take care of sports betting in its many forms. Whether it's someone putting a few dollars on the big game on a Saturday afternoon, or it's a big spender putting a huge wad on the Stanley Cup final; each and every game, sport and event that you can bet on is different in some way. Even the variety...
I never said UND wasn't good. I said they were wrong. That still stands.

During the summer of 2011 the college hockey world blew up with announcement of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, this was a response to the formation of the Big Ten Hockey Conference. These new leagues will begin play in the 2013-14 season....
Here’s this week’s WCHA Power Rankings. This season, I will be doing the WCHA Power Rankings with Taylor Seibel who is a contributor of College Hockey Weekly.
In my opinion, the Denver Pioneers officially have hit rock bottom and are winless in eight games and are in a free fall. Again, I believe that you could swap any of the top four teams in the league as well.

Recently, there was an November 29 article by Mark Bedics at NCAA.com and the chair of the Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee and current athletic director of Notre Dame Tom Nevala, would like to see the first round of the Men’s NCAA Division I hockey tourney moved on campus and have the games played...
Last night, the University of North Dakota pounded the Michigan Tech Huskies 6-1 in the first game of an important two game WCHA series. This is the last game of 2012 before UND goes on a three week hiatus during the Christmas break.
I don’t know what I am going to do with a three week break from UND hockey, especially with the NHL Lockout which looks like it’s far from over...
Danny Kristo's assist was his 125th career point, tying Dan Brennan for 43rd all-time at UND. Chay Genoway (127), Troy Murray (129) up next.
