Russian hoops coach, fundamentally sound, makes the extra pass (VIDEO)

Coaches are always preaching that the ball moves more quickly with the pass and that making the extra pass can lead to an open shot.  This Russian coach practiced what he preached here.  Gundars Ventra, head coach of the Unics Kazan of the Russian Professional Basketball League, was strolling the sidelines unguarded during a recent game against Spartak Vladivostok. Unics Kazan...

High school girls throw cheap shots too (VIDEO)

The moral of today’s story is “if you can’t take it, don’t dish it out.”  The clip below (via @JimmyTraina) is from a recent girls high school basketball game in Atascadero, California.  The “action” starts at 0:13 on the fair left of the screen.  You’ll see the girl in it sure black throw a discreet elbow to the midsection of the girl in white. And then the hammer...

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time this CREEP-A-MANIAC has publicly crushed on his daughter. Propers to Footbasket

Jeff Bagwell selling his fairly decent house for $15 million (PICS)

Former Houston Astros first baseman Jeff Bagwell grossed about $130 million over the course of his 15-year career.  So why wouldn’t he have a $15 million home?  You know what they say – everything is bigger in Texas – and that includes Baggy’s 16,000 square foot fortress in Houston. If you’re into large homes that have a wine “vault”, a saltwater pool/spa, a two bedroom...

AHL Goalie Fight (VIDEO)

There is something about a goalie fight that adds a whole new level of machismo to a hockey game.  Saturday night, the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch squared off with the St. John’s Ice Caps and the main event featured Crunch ‘tender Dustin Tokarski and Ice Caps netminder Eddie Pasquale throwing down at center ice. It began as a whole-line scrum in the corner to...

Ed “Guns” Hochuli makes Pro Bowl joke (VIDEO)

NFL players annually gather in Hawaii for a vacation and play not to get hurt in the reason that brought them there – the Pro Bowl.  The Pro Bowl isn’t really true football as there is no blitzing, no blocking kicks, no defense and very little interest. Even Ed Hochuli got into the light-heartedness of the event with a joke on the first penalty of the game – a pass interference...

Bizarre occurrence at the end of the UCLA-Arizona State game (VIDEO)

Per the normalcy of the end of any basketball game that is out-of-reach – the winning team dribbles out of the clock, hands the ball to the ref and the players all give bro-hugs.  Not at the end of Saturday’s UCLA-Arizona State game.  The Sun Devils beat the Bruins 78-60. ASU’s Evan Gordon was dribbling out the clock when UCLA’s Jordan Adams came out of nowhere to pick...

LeBron James’ ridiculous travel (VIDEO)

NBA refs call traveling like the German police write up speeding on the Autobahn.  The bigger the superstar, the lesser the likelihood you will get called for traveling. And that’s why LeBron got away with this doozy of a walk Friday night against the Pistons.  It should take at least two dribbles to get the hole from half court, right?  RIGHT?  Not when you’re LBJ.

An “and one” falling away buzzer beater in youth basketball (VIDEO)

Zack Zenner felt contact from the defender as he caught the pass from his teammate along the right sideline.  With time expiring in the quarter, he made a heads up move by just heaving it toward the basket.  If anything, the ref may give him three foul shots if it was ruled to be a shooting foul. The youngest from West Michigan’s heads up move paid off as he sunk the three-ball...
