Shannon can’t Coach.
I am honestly so $#!@ing livid right now, that I don’t know if I can write a coherent post. Is anyone else noticing the trend that is happening with Shannon’s Hurricanes? Aside from last week’s game to Florida State, Robert Marve has looked incredible on his first three drives of every single game this season. [...]

This Loss goes to the Coaches and Dolphins Stadium.
I refuse to sit by and praise every single move that Randy Shannon makes, like everyone else. The guy is a recruiting machine, but as far as his coaching tactics, I have not once been impressed. One thing Coach Shannon needs to learn is how to customize his game plan during a game. IE. Just [...]

I just drove by Ground Zero of where the Orange Bowl used to be for the first time, via 836, on the way back from taking my girlfriend to the airport, and I must say, it was one of the most grim scenes I’ve ever seen. I have refrained from posting any thoughts on the [...]

Miami vs. Florida.
I can’t believe tomorrow is almost here. I have to admit, I’m never excited when Miami and Florida play, not because I don’t think we can beat them, but because they are eventually going to have our number, and we’ll have to wait another 5 years until those ******* allow us to get our revenge.
Well, [...]

Miami Sports Blog Prediction.
Since football season is but hours away, I suppose it’s time to light MSB back up. What better way to follow up my last bitch-fest post than to make one of my ten predictions of the year. I must say, I have never been so excited to start the season against a cake team as [...]

Go Canes.
Wow, I haven’t posted in a long time. What better time than the day before the Hurricanes (or at least some of them) take the field? It’s no secret I am 99% against the ‘Canes move to the Orange Bowl (the 1% coming from being able to watch replays), but within just three days prior [...]

Bill Buckner Throws the First Pitch at Fenway?
I'm not buying it. No fucking way. If Ray Finkle comes back to Dolphins Stadium to take place in a bullshit ceremonial tribute, he's done.

Thank God for UM - Weekend Report
I am absolutely convinced Pat Riley has thrown in the towel. Thursday night, the key were getting smoked by the Lakers for pretty much the entire game, but then we cut the lead to six points with about five minutes left, and what does Riley do? Of course, pull out Wade and Marion! Duh! Last [...]

Thank U(NC) for F*cking Up My Bracket.
Let’s just say I had many reasons to be rooting for UNC Saturday night. I picked all four of the final four teams, as this was the most obvious top heavy bracket in NCAA history, and I had UNC over Memphis in the finals. This was to be a brilliant decision on my part, so [...]

OOHI STATE WINS!!!!!!!!
I didn’t watch the NIT championship last night, because I have no interest in a game that crowns the 66th best team in college basketball (statistically). But if anyone out there watched it, please tell me, did Ohio State celebrate after winning? Because that would be hilarious. After coming ...

Robert Andino gets Robbed.
Robert Andino was my hero for a night. Tuesday night, he unexpectedly hit a bomb in the 10th inning to give the Marlins their first win in only their second game. In doing so, he singled handedly won 5% of my predicted 20 games the Marlins will win this season. Unfortunately for him, his day [...]

Marlins Manatees make me Sick
A few weeks ago I posted an article on the Florida Mermaids. Now, enter the Florida Manatees.
Blurb:
The Florida Marlins are looking for big bellies with the biggest jiggle, big feet with the best dance moves and enthusiasm that will rock Marlins fans out of their seats. Auditions will be held ...

Quote from Pat Riley
My friend, Tommy O, brought up the point that the Heat look like they have been throwing games in the past couple weeks. At first, I balked at the idea that my team is officially throwing in the towel, but I think he’s onto something. He noted that with a few minutes left [...]

Heat Score 54.
I’m a die hard Heat fan. Even a few weeks ago, when the Heat were 99% out of the playoff race, I continued to watch games intently. Now, it’s impossible. All the players worth watching aren’t playing, and the Heat officially began the tanking process weeks ago.
Last night, the Heat...

Favre in Miami? My Fingers are Crossed.
Not so fast, Kimosabe. If I know Brett Favre (which I don’t), he definitely wants to come back. Regardless of how bad the NFC was last season (and don’t tell me the NFC is better because one of its teams one the Super Bowl), he got a team of misfits to the NFC Championship game, [...]

UM Basketball, Baby!
HUGE WIN! The ‘Canes just got a huge victory over Boston College. Why was this big? Let me count the ways:
1. It snapped a 13 game (I believe) losing streak the ‘Canes had against BC basketball.
2. Although not a must-win, this was a huge victory for our post-season (which I’ll ex...

Women’s College Basketball Loses Money, Sucks
From SbB, I have learned that NCAA Women’s hoops is losing a lot of money.
The US Department of Education reported that the NCAA's 333 Division I women's basketball programs that competed in the 2005-2006 season lost a cumulative amount of ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-NINE MMMILLION DOLLARS!
This may n...

Thank you Michigan, Dolphins Please Trade Down
First of all, I’d like to say that I am extremely happy to see the Florida Gators lose their bowl game yesterday to a team that lost to a D II team a few months back. Of course, I always like to see the Gators go down, but more than anything, it gave me the [...]

Miami News - January 8th, 2008
Three little tidbits to post on today in all-things-Miami news.
1. Dolphins hire Mississippi offensive coordinator David Lee to be the ‘Phins new QB coach. This is HUGE news. Lee’s track record at Mississippi is unblemished, and he’ll be a major force as Miami’s QB coach.

Pulling Teeth
Lately, I feel like I am pulling teeth when trying to think of blog posts. The Dolphins cut a bunch of guys. The Heat lost more game. The Marlins are making progress to build a stadium that no one will go to for the same reason the Hurricanes moved out of because they felt not [...]

Miami Beats Duke!
Wow. It’s a great thing when mediocre basketball teams upset Duke, especially twice in a row, and especially when I was 7th in line to attend it. One thing I always wondered about Duke road games was how their perennial small white guard deals with pregame heckling. Paulus laughed twice but fo...

SITE INFORMATION
Miami Sports Blog
Miami Sports Blog (MSB) is the predominant sports blog for South Florida. We broke both the Shaq divorce and Wade separation stories. News is not our strong suit. Usually its centered around jokes, bad photoshopping and strong opinions. The only news we ever break is from some chick in college who (may) sleep with Shaq.
You may recognize us from our more popular appearances in Deadspin and The Big Lead, and we've built quite a following in the Miami area.
The biggest attribute is our locale. There really wasn't a sports blog for and about Miami sports until we started. Myself (Brody) and BStew run and write for the site. We are both Hurricane alums and are pompous enough to think that we can speak for the general sports populous of South Florida. The Miami sports fan is a unique one. No other area has a populous that is both passionate and ambivalent at the same time. The amount of transplants and the diversity of the area makes for some of the best fans in sports (see the OB at night) or some of the worst (the Marlins in August).
We report on all Miami sports but usually its just jokes and blatant homerism, we are like the best side of native-son Dan LeBatard. All the jokes, none of his Pulitzer-pandering.
