Capitals and Wizards benefit from Dan Snyder's ownership?
For decades and decades, OK, for all eternity, Washington DC has been and will likely always be Redskins first. The tradition, glory, and history of this once proud franchise is held dear in many Washingtonian hearts, including many in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. However, is there a limit? Will the rabid fan base trickle away? Is that possible? Peter Angelos probably...

Fantasy NBA: Injury Comebacks
One of the worst things to happen to your fantasy (or real life) team is a significant injury to one of your top players. Last year, these key players missed over half the season. I listed them in order of my current perceived value. If you're a risk taker, some of them could be great bargains, but be aware as some of them may end up rotting on your bench. Here's some of...

Brendan Haywood opens a can of whup-ass
Speaking to Mike Wise on his daily radio show, Wizards center Brendan Haywood went after former coach/sparring partner Eddie Jordan with the biggest stick he's got."Let me ask you a question though," he said. "If a coach and a player aren't seeing eye to eye, why is it always the player's fault? I never ever said anything negative about Eddie Jordan, but why is it always the player...

Fabricio Oberto will be a Wizard
Free agent center Fabricio Oberto's agent Herb Rudoy informed the Wizards today that his client will sign with Washington over other suitors in Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, Phoenix and Sacramento. This is what I wrote about Oberto back on July 14:In fairly desperate need of an experienced big man [or two], the Wizards have offered a contract to ex-San Antonio Spur Fabricio Oberto...

JaVale McGee...Still My Favorite Player
Everybody remembers when JaVale McGee, the 2008 first round pick of the Washington Wizards, hit us with the 3rd installment in the Transformers movie series. Well now, he's crossed over into the X-Men series with his own adaptation of Wolverine. It's pretty great. Yep, I can't think of a more likable player. Not one.

Brendan Haywood's tips for money management
With the news that millionaire athletes are running into trouble lately [Bernie Kosar, Antoine Walker, Randy Brown], Brendan Haywood -- who is known for counting his pennies carefully -- is offering some tips for pro athletes to manage their money efficiently. These are common sense rules like not buying 10 gold necklaces or 15 luxury automobiles, not putting a ton of cash into one...

Antawn Jamison not ready to be a GM
My affection and admiration for Wizards forward Antawn Jamison are well-documented and long-standing. Nevertheless, I can't believe he's serious in wanting perennial team cancer and stat-padder Stephon Marbury on the Wizards. No, thanks. Gilbert Arenas is as strange as I want our point guards to get.

Wiz lose a snoozer, 77-70 to the Nuggets
The Wizards shot 32% from the floor in front of a large crowd of empty chairs, falling to the Denver Nuggets 77-70 in game 2 of their Summer League schedule. Nick Young scored 17 points and again had zero assists. I'll have to check this, but I'm not sure if I've seen Nick pass since these games began. To be fair, I didn't see anyone passing much either, as the Wiz...

Wiz open Summer League with a win
The Wizards squandered an 18-point lead before defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 96-93 in game one of their Summer League schedule in Las Vegas. Teams are allowed to dress only 4 NBA veterans per game and the Wiz shook things up by sitting Dominic McGuire and going with Nick Young, Andray Blatche, Javaris Crittenton and Javale McGee. Blatche was the surprise start, though he earned...

VSL Recap: Cavs Lose To Wiz 96-93, Drop To 0-3
Quick recap of the Cavs loss to the Wizards (only got to see the 2nd half).Box ScoreGeneral ThoughtsThis lack of a true PG crap to run the team is really starting to bug me. Although I'm not sure if it would help too much since these games look just like D-League games: a bunch of guys trying to score at every opportunity and thinking the only to make a NBA team is by scoring...

Fabricio Oberto update
Earlier today we reported that the Washington Wizards have offered a contract to free agent center Fabricio Oberto. It appears that the Wizards have only expressed interest and perhaps suggested some numbers. Oberto's agent says "nothing's imminent" and that his client is considering about 6 different teams, including the Wizards. In addition to Oberto, the Wizards...

Speeding Bullets: Run DMc and Haywood Q&A
If you're a Wizards fan, you gotta love Dominic McGuire, the 6'9" do-it-all-but-score "point forward" who is going into his third year this season, but will be playing today in the Las Vegas Summer League. McGuire started 57 games last season and specialized in getting hustle rebounds, stops and assists. Interesting enough [especially in light of what I wrote...

Andray Blatche back in Summer School, Nick Young smiles too much
Fifth year forward/center Andray Blatche will make a surprise appearance with the Washington Wizards Summer League team this week, for at least a game or two. It's ridiculous pretty rare for a player with as much experience as Blatche to still be playing in Summer League games, but perhaps Blatche believes he needs to learn more about the offensive schemes used by new head coach...
