Sunday Night Disaster
It's bad enough when your team lays an egg, but it's even worse when they lay an egg on national TV. But there where the Cardinals on Sunday night, getting haplessly destroyed by the Indianapolis Colts as a national audience watched and thought "I knew they were just a fluke." It's not a game that is easy to break down, but there are a few things we need to...

Cardinals' pitching is stingy with walks, homers
Hi, I'm Brad Templeman, and this is my first post on MLB Notebook. I will be guest-posting several times a week. This post is about a few stats I have been following for a while, and have posted about at www.baseballindepth.com.
The top of the Cardinals rotation has been dominant, with Adam Wainwright leading the NL in wins with 18 and Chris Carpenter a top Cy Young candidate...

Passing game seals win for 49ers
The 49ers used the pass, not the rush, to defeat the Arizona
Cardinals on Sunday. When the 49ers running game was limited to 21
total yards on 25 carries, the 49ers used the passing attack late in
the game to score the game winning drive in the 20-16 victory.Trailing
16-13 after a Neil Rackers field goal to start the 4th quarter, the
49ers began on the 20-yard line and drove the...

2009 NFL Season Preview: NFC, Plus Super Bowl Predictions
Unfortunately, I became very busy over the past week and didn't have time to do my full previews for the NFC. Instead, I'll quickly go through each division, pick a winner and then give my prediction for the Super Bowl matchup and winner. NFC West: Arizona has looked awful this preseason, and talks of a Super Bowl hangover have already surfaced. Sure, the Cardinals likely will have...

The Tale of Two Halves
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was a tale of two halves. It ended one controversy and started another. It was as exciting to watch as it was horrifying. It gave us a future star. It left a million questions in our mind. What exactly happened in last night's Cardinals game?
The Bad
The third pre-season game is the most important of the pre-season games...

Will Macha tinker with the rotation for the Cardinals series?
Next Tuesday, the Brewers get their first of three remaining chances to hand St. Louis some losses. To that end, skipper Ken Macha probably wants his best three starters to go. Right now, his rotation is aligned as follows:T 8/25 Jeff Suppan, 5-8, 5.27 vs. CincyW 8/26 Braden Looper, 11-6, 4.95 vs. CincyR 8/27 Dave Bush, 3-4, 5.67 vs. CincyF 8/28 Manny Parra, 8-10...

A Re-cap of Awesomness
Raise your hand if you're waiting for the other shoe to drop.
If you're waiting for Matt Holliday to pull a hamstring. Waiting for Chris Carpenter to blow out an arm. Waiting for Ryan Franklin to finally implode. Waiting for this dream of 2009 season to punch you in the gut.
Let's re-cap:
1) The Cardinals, notoriously cheap have signed the best foreign hitting prospect in the...

NFC West Preview- Arizona Cardinals
by: Dwayne D.
The NFC West was virtually the worst division in all of the NFL, but the worst division produced the NFC representative in the Super Bowl, the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals run was not a fluke, they got off to a great start in the first half of last season, then fell off in the second half, only to prime themselves to wins against Atlanta, Carolina, and Philadelphia...

No Matter What Fans Think, The Preseason Is Important
Many fans loathe preseason football. The starters play few minutes, don't try their hardest, and it's a time when second and third-stringers get the opportunity to play most of the games. Each team plays four preseason games, which many feel is too many games. And in the case of the two teams that play in the annual Hall of Fame Game, they have 5 preseason games to work with.
Tomorrow...

NFL Rantings: Diagnosing the NFC Super Bowl Contenders
One glance at this year's AFC pretty much tells you that it's still very much an elitist conference. Consider: the last team who wasn't the Steelers, Patriots, or Colts to come out of the AFC was...the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders have fallen so far since that super bowl appearance, it's remarkable that the AFC hasn't had a worst to first story.Over the same time frame, the NFC...
