Utah Williams Nets Trade – Early Analysis
Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Devin Harris and Derrick Favors have been traded to the Jazz for Deron Williams.
Shocking, right?
Looking at Utah’s cap situation and the seemingly inevitable drama that would have followed the Jazz around next season – the “Where will Deron go?” hysteria – Utah made a gutsy decision and turned a great point guard into a very good point...

Trailblazers Should Make Move For Ray Felton
If I’m Cho and I’m running the show in Portland (pardon the pun), I’m working hard today to put my hands into the rumored Knicks-Nuggets trade that sends Ray Felton to Denver. Why? Because, as much as I like Andre Miller (and I’m speaking as a student of the game and as Blazer’s management), he’s old. He’s as good as he’s ever going...

Melo for Bynum – Great Deal for Denver, So-So for L.A.
The rumor of the day is that L.A. is considering trading Andrew Bynum for Carmelo Anthony. I assume L.A.’s reasoning goes something like this:
Bynum has missed a lot of games this year and we still win without him
Kobe is on the downhill slope of his career – it’s a good idea to have a successor waiting in the wings
Melo might be a better player with Kobe and Phil Jackson looking...

Melo Is Leaving, But Kroenke’s Threats Can Not Be Ignored
The sports blog world is probably going to erupt tomorrow with news that Carmelo has demanded a trade. I can see it now – hundreds of bloggers saying that Denver *has* to trade Melo or risk losing him for nothing.
Not so fast.
While it’s certainly true Denver would probably be wise to move Carmelo now, they certainly don’t have to. There are a lot of unknowns that play in Denver’s...

Prediction: The Nuggets Will Rebuild Come February 2011
With no possibility of improving in free agency or the draft, little potential for improving via trade, and the harsh reality that Denver is no better than the 3rd best team in the Western conference, all signs point to a franchise that needs to rebuild. Barring the sudden availability of an impact player via trade, I expect Melo, Nene, and Chauncey will all be traded by next February...

Thoughts On The Eastern Conference And The Heat
I won’t go into my opinion of LeBron too much, but I think Adrian Wojnarowski at Yahoo Sports has it right. James is an egomaniac, and his spectacle only served to ruin his image. However, that’s really not important now. Now it’s time to wonder just how well the new triumvirate of Wade, Bosh, and James will play. Without all the pieces assembled, it’s still up in the air...

Bosh Leaving Toronto
In the last couple of days, it’s been reported that Chris Bosh has given the Raptors a list of teams he’d like to play for next season. While this news has been denied by Bosh’s agent, it’s been confirmed by Raptors GM Colangelo. Colangelo’s confirmation seems like pretty strong evidence Bosh has requested a sign and trade because:
1. Confirming the existence of the list...

Amare Most Likely To Be Traded To New Jersey
Amare is going get moved this month – here’s why:
Phoenix can win almost as many games without Amare as they can with him. If you saw Phoenix and Dallas play last Thursday, you know that Phoenix has a bunch of scrappy young athletic bigs that can shoot and finish. I’m not saying they’re better without [...]

Gilbert Arenas Newest NRA Spokesman
Gilbert Arenas, seen below shooting his pistol during pre-game warm-ups, has become the NRA’s newest spokesman.

Arenas and the NRA have yet to make a formal announcement.
According to NBA insiders, the Wizards are considering changing the name of the team back to the “Bullets” and starting a new “Gun night” promotion.

Jackson To Charlotte Trade Analysis
Warriors Stephen Jackson and Acie Law have been sent to the Charlotte Bobcats today in exchange for Vlad Radmonivic and Raja Bell. You can read a good recap of the trade and some analysis on Hoopsworld, but there are a few points that are missing:
Raja Bell probably won’t report. He’s playing for a contract next [...]

Trade Idea – Julian Wright and Mo Peterson for Stephen Jackson
Byron Scott hates playing youngsters, and he’s in desperate trouble. If this team of his doesn’t start winning soon, he’ll be working the playoffs from a desk at ESPN.
Stephen Jackson would rather be anywhere but Golden State, and his play is showing it. Whatever trade value he had before, it’s lower now.
Seems to me that [...]

Nuggets Blazers October 29, 2009 Game Recap
If you’re looking for a full recap of the game, both Bust a Bucket and The Nugg Doctor have done a nice job of breaking down last night’s game from each fan perspective.
Here are some thoughts I have about the game that I haven’t seen mentioned:
1. McMillan needs to resolve the PG question. I believe [...]

Predicting the 2009-2010 NBA Season – Western Conference
If you haven’t already seen it, check out my 2009-2010 NBA Season Predictions for the Eastern Conference.
First, some assumptions:
That all the important players stay mostly healthy.
That there aren’t any major trades. Obviously this will change, but when it does the rankings will be updated (if I have time).
That some lame-o (who isn’t bold enough to [...]

Predicting the 2009-2010 NBA Season – Eastern Conference
Here it is – my attempt at predicting the future. Last season I was too busy to write a post, but not this year.
First, some assumptions:
All the important players stay (mostly) healthy.
There aren’t any major trades. Obviously this will change, but when it does the rankings will be updated (if I have time).
When I get [...]

How The Knicks and Jazz Can Workout A Trade For Boozer
I’ve spent some time the last couple of days trying to figure out how the Jazz can trade Boozer for anyone or anything of substantial value, and I have to admit I’m stymied. Unless OKC decides to help facilitate a trade (which seems unlikely considering neither team is willing to part with anything OKC wants), [...]

Denver Needs To Call Milwaukee ASAP About Kurt Thomas
If you watched the playoffs back in May and June, you can see that the Denver Nuggets need depth at the center position. While there’s been talk of working a deal for Jeff Foster (and I like that possibility), I think Kurt Thomas represents an excellent opportunity to grab a championship-caliber veteran player without giving [...]

Nuggets Lakers Game 1 Observations
Anthony Carter is going to get the blame, but the Nuggets lost this game in the last 3 minutes. They simply don’t have the experience in close games. A silly reach in foul, one poor rotation, and one bad possession is all it takes to lose in a game like this.
Denver’s disadvantage on the boards [...]

Breaking Down The Lakers Nuggets Western Conference Finals
Here’s what the Lakers-Nuggets 2008-2009 Western Conference Finals are going to look like:
Point Guards - Billups and Carter vs. Fisher, Farmar, and Brown. There’s an awful lot to like about L.A.’s trio of point guards. Brown is lightening quick, Farmar is a talented shooter and capable player, and Fisher is big, strong, and clutch. Denver’s [...]

Kleiza’s Days as a Nugget Just About Over
Linas Kleiza should be relishing this time - it’s exciting to be competing in the playoffs, especially when your team looks like it can make it all the way to the Conference Finals. Playing with Chauncey and K-Mart in their primes, with a surging Nene, a strong Melo, and a surprisingly potent bench in Carter [...]

Nuggets Mavs Game One - Response and Predictions
All the talking heads and analysts have already said the Nuggets win the series, and I think that’s likely as well. Denver simply has too much to overcome the Mavs:
Billups vs. Kidd - This will come down to Billups being able to score in transition. Kidd is slow, and if he’s out of position because [...]

Chicago Most Likely To Trade For Amar’e
A report on Yahoo Sports today says that the Phoenix Suns are considering moving Amar’e Stoudemire. Rumors abound that Amar’e is dissatisfied with his new coach, his reduced offensive role, and the fact that people keep asking him to play defense. This shouldn’t come as a surprise - the knock on Amar’e since he joined [...]

Relax Knick Fans - David Lee Isn’t Leaving
I’m a big fan of Hoopsworld.com and my “friendly neighborhood columnist” Travis Heath. Travis has mentioned a few times that the Nuggets might be able to get David Lee from New York for two 1st round picks and Linas Kleiza.
Seems reasonable enough, right? Kleiza is a versatile swingman that would likely thrive in D’Antoni’s system, [...]

Awful Detroit Pistons TV Ad, Auto Indusry Woes
On the basketball court, the Pistons have a lot to look forward to. When the team figures out how to fully integrate A.I. into the offense and adjusts to the loss of Billups, there's no doubt they'll be a huge challenge for Cleveland and/or Boston. Good stuff.
OFF the basketball court, the Pistons future is downright [...]

Where Is Kaman Going To Land After Clipper-Land?
The Clippers have too many big men, and they need a solid wingman. Since neither Camby or Kaman won't accept coming off the bench anyways, it only makes sense to move one of them for a shooting guard or small foward. The consensus is that Kaman is moved - so where could he go?
