"TWO MEN BLITZED" - New Sports/Comedy Podcast Premieres
Hey, kids! Remember me! I was supposed to contribute all sorts of funny stuff to this site waaaaaaaaay back in the summer, but got caught up in the minutiae of trying to get settled in a new city, run a comedy festival, and try and get some sort of career going.
And going the career has gotten! Me and my fellow sports fan/comedian friend Matt Kelly are launching a new weekly podcast...

8 Super Bowl Questions For Cat aka @Pessimets_
I wanted to know what Giants fans are thinking going into the big game. So I asked NYSS resident Giants expert, Cat aka @Pessimets_ on Twitter, for her opinion on the matter.
NYsportsGUY is bold and Cat in regular font. Adiamo!
FIRST THINGS FIRST - On a scale of 1-10, will the Giants win Super Bowl XLVI and why?
I hate these kinds of questions simply because I dislike being over...

NY Sports Art FOR SALE: NY Giants WR Victor Cruz
NYSS Member Craig Mahoney is a self proclaimed "Comedian, Illustrator, Podcaster, and Failure". He is also a NY Yankees and Giants fan who can whip up original artwork in the time it takes to for Victor Cruz to shake Antonio Cromartie and run 99 yards for a Touchdown for a salsa dance.
If you are interested in purchasing this Cruz piece or any artwork (I bought my cousin a great...

The Story Behind the MSG / Time Warner Cable Dispute
After tolerating ten years of lousy Knicks basketball and enduring strenuous NBA lockout dysentery, the Knicks are about to embark on an exhillerating season with championship aspirations.
However, our patience may not be rewarded as many Knicks fans who rely on Time Warner Cable to carry the MSG and MSG HD channels, may be faced with a black screen next time they turn on...

Jason Pierre-Paul: Unsung Hero of Giants Season
With the 15th overall pick in the 2010 National Football League draft, the New York Giants selected defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul out of the college of South Florida.
Not even fully through his second season as a member of the Giants organization, his coaches, teammates, and fans could not be more pleased with his results and effort. In the midst of the finest season of Eli...

A Tale of Two Cities
‘Cold air, an ice covered pond, and a few friends’ – the simplicity of hockey can often be masked by the raucous fights, bloody faces, and trash talking flashy players. Played annually on New Year’s Day, the Winter Classic is a celebration of the game that brings the sport back to the great outdoors. This year’s contest between the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia...

THE PACKERS LOST
This is going to be quick. Obviously the Giants won that game last week, I've been pissed off all week watching highlights and looking at pictures like the ones above. Forget about the obvious Jake Ballard TD that wasn't called, what about Greg Jennings getting a free touchdown when he obviously never had control of the ******* ball. Those two plays or calls/non calls are the...

Breaking Up with Jose Reyes
One of my favorite Mets of all time, Jose Reyes, will be wearing this putrid Miami Marlins uniform when the 2012 MLB season gets underway. Jose and Mets fans had a union. A partnership. Hell, a marriage. Now it's OVER and we're left to begrudgingly sign the divorce papers.
It's sad to see him go, but you can't be angry at him personally. If you were Jose Reyes...No, seriously...

Attention Critics: Mark Sanchez is Not a Terrible Quarterback
Time and time again, Jets fans have to defend the ability of our Quarterback, Mark Sanchez.
Sanchez is undeniably a polarizing figure. Often times, he receives too much acclaim or too much vitriol for his play on the field and the image he portrays off-the-field. If you are a pure blooded castigator, Sanchez is an easy target. Whether it's his tighty-whitey pants in GQ...

5 Stats, a Fact, and a Quote: NY Jets CB Darrelle Revis (Plus Top 5 Condiments for Nuggets)
We here at NYsportSpace (i.e. my Cat and I) appreciate Darrelle Revis and the impact he's had on the Jets success since he was drafted in 2007.
Our favorite Jets Beat Writer Manish penned a fantastic journalistic piece (Revis Pieces?) over at the Daily News. It contains a plethora of insightful nuggets that when dipped in proverbial honey mustard, is just deliciously delightful...

NY Giants: 8-8 If We're Lucky
It's been a while since I've written anything on NYSS. One, because I started a new job. Two, because there has been nothing positive to write about regarding the NY G-MEN. Was I suppose to write about all of their miraculous free agent moves? Their ability to keep players healthy? No, no, NO. Maybe the fact that they looked like a well oiled machine vs. Sexy Rexy and the Redskins...

3 Not-So-Obvious Improvements the JETS Need To Make Going Into 2011 Season
Complete and utter dismay.
That's the feeling Jets fans felt as the clock ticked down to zero in last year's AFC Championship game. Rex Ryan's facial expression in this photo makes my eyes water and my stomach churn.
The players wearing white and green headed to the locker room full of disappointment and regret. The players wearing black and yellow headed to the locker room...

Are the Mets Intentionally Keeping Jose Reye$ In the Minors Longer Than He Needs To Be?
Jose Reyes is the only reason to attend a Mets game at Citifield. Unless of course, you are a fan of the visiting team.
It was announced on Tuesday that Jose Reyes' three game rehab assignment is 'a go' and he will play with the Double-A club on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. He'll then rest Sunday and join the Mets on Monday vs. the Marlins. Three games in rehab? Why would...

What the Jets Should Do With Each 2011 Free Agent
As the NFL lockout FINALLY ends and the 2011 season gets underway, the New York Jets need to decide what to do with the 17 Free Agents who donned green and white last year.
The Jets have a nice young core under contract for the next few years but lets be honest Jets fans - Mike Tannenbaum put all his chips in the middle of the table last year by committing a lot of money to...

What's Wrong with US Soccer?
This article originally appears on FictionNonGrata
The timing of this article couldn't be any worse. Who writes a blog post about "What's wrong with US Soccer" after one of the most thrilling games in World Cup History? (Yes I mean both Men's & Women's World Cups) The 3-2 win yesterday in the World Cup by the US Women's National Soccer Team was...

Why Wright is Wrong for the Mets
I realize that already, many of you have scoffed at the title of this article, and some of you Wright fanatics have already mentally cursed me out merely for writing such “blasphemy.” But, with the rumors that a trade of either Wright or Reyes may occur at some point this season or offseason, it’s time to explore why—and how—Wright has not lived up to the pedestal he has...

Hate: 10 Reasons to Dislike Jason Bay
Jason Bay is well on his way to going down as one of the worst free agent signings in Mets history.
Some people would suggest that Oliver Perez, Vince Coleman, Bobby Bonilla or Luis Castillo would be the worst and those people might be correct. WHO KNOWS, you might be one of those people. One thing about those ****** Mets players is that they had their moments, albeit sparingly...

How Bud Selig and MLB Botched Social Media
Anyone under the age of 50 already knows that the following statement is a fallacy: Baseball is America’s favorite pastime. That statement is about as accurate as saying that the newspaper industry is the preferred way for twenty-somethings to get their news. For a variety of reasons, Major League Baseball has quickly plummeted from “America’s favorite pastime” to the third...

Can a Yankees Fan Transform Into a Mets Fan Overnight?
If you live in New York and are interested in baseball, aligning yourself with the proper team is perhaps the most important decision you can ever make in your life. Today the debate is simple. Are you a Yankees Fan or are you a Mets Fan?
In the 1950's the debate was a lot more difficult. Your choices were being either a Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants or New York Yankees Fan...

A Letter to Carlos Boozer
Dear Carlos,
Let's get a few things out of the way first.
1. I am an NBA agnostic. I root for no team. In the regular season, I want close divisional races, players and crowds who care, battles for playoff seeding. In the playoffs, give me great matchups, teeth-baring competitiveness, and long series. I am easily pleased.
2. I care about off-court issues for...

Giants 2011 NFL Draft Rewind
Quite a weekend indeed; Bin Laden is finally dead, there was near perfect weather in NYC and for those of you that have your priorities straight, it was the NFL Draft. With one of the best GM's in the league capable of finding talent within the draft, he had his work cut out for him this year. There were (and still are) holes throughout the Giants roster, what would JR do to...
