Despite Solid Win in Tampa, Belichick Says Pats Have a Long Way to Go
Don’t expect Bill Belichick to be content just because his team outscored its first two preseason opponents 78-26. He’s not raving about a defense that allowed just one touchdown in those two games or an offense that scored 10 touchdowns.
Not the demanding coach of the Patriots, not even after Thursday night’s 31-14 domination of the Buccaneers.
“I think...

Patriots Battle the Bucs in Game Two of the Preseason
Even with Tom Brady and most of his cohorts watching from the sidelines, the Patriots’ offense operated at near maximum efficiency in the team’s preseason opener. The star quarterback should now get his chance to take the controls when he makes an expected 2011 debut in Friday’s game against the Buccaneers from Raymond James Stadium.
Despite head coach Bill Belichick sitting...

Belichick Says NFL Wants To Squash Kickoffs
With the new NFL rules stating that kickoffs are to be taken from the 35-yard line instead of the 30 — though the Bears didn’t feel they needed to follow that rule, since apparently they wanted to work on their kickoff coverage — it seems pretty clear the NFL wants to reduce the number of returns that can be taken.
The reason the rules competition committee wanted...

“The Jets loss, I’ll never get over that. That’s as painful a loss as we’ve ever had here as a team. … They can rush the passer, find ways to confuse you by rushing the passer...

Patriots crush Jaguars 47-12; start to answer some questions
Cunningham got to the quarterback once last night, but he's got work to do.
This had to be the most watched Patriots’ preseason game ever right?
If 18,000 people went to training camp the other day, and the stands were at least half full, how many people were watching on tv?
I’ll be honest, I don’t think anyone knows.
What I do know is the NFL’s marketing geniuses...

Taylor Price steals the show, and other game notes.
Price showed speed in and out of his cuts last night.
That play when Mallett threw the short hitch to Taylor Price was the working man’s play of the game. Incredible, first, to see that kind of timing from Mallett. He looked poised all game–was very impressive. When they said he was 6’7”, they meant it. He’s huge. Stands so tall over the line, sees everthing, and you can...
