Ball Don’t Lie Ranks Bargs as 18th Best Centre in the NBA
BDL’s Kelly Dwyer ranks Andrea at #18 for the league’s best centres. The position of the ranking I don’t really have an issue with, but the fact Dwyer ranked Hibbert at #16 ahead of Andrea isn’t sitting well with me. Rebounding better than Andrea? Sure, but that’s about it. I don’t get it. What are your thoughts?

Does Anybody Else Find This Type Of Attitude In a Fan Tasteless?
To tank or not to tank? That is the question. Seeing how most NBA analysts and even fans have written us off next season, would you prefer a scappy young team competing for the 8th playoff spot in the conference or tanking the season so we can hopefully acquire one of those can’t miss prospects in the draft? Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Will The Raptors Finally Be Better Than The Cavs?
Austin Burton from Dime Magazine asked “Who’s Worse: Toronto Raptors or Cleveland Cavaliers?”. Cleveland might be the more experience of the two, but Toronto’s new youth movement might prevent us from being the worse of the two teams. Who do you think is better?

Masai Ujiri leaves the Raptors. So what?
Masai Ujiri has accepted the Nuggets GM job after Suns executive David Griffin turned it down because it wasn’t near the $1 million median salary for recently hired general managers like Cleveland’s Chris Grant, Dell Demps of New Orleans and Portland’s Rich Cho. Ujiri, a former Denver employee who spent four years in the Nuggets’ scouting department, will...

Bargnani Wants to Bring Something Extra to His Arsenal
Andrea talks about the benefits of playing with the Italian national team each summer. He mentions that during this time players can prepare for their upcoming seasons while also sharpening and “adding new wrinkles to their game”. What’s the “something extra” Raptors fans hope Andrea has added to his game?

Frank Zicarelli needs to stop writing
In his typical one-sentence-per-paragraph style, this is what he spewed regarding bloggers yesterday:
In today’s messed-up world of reporting, where Internet garbage gets packaged as gospel, where bloggers are somehow viewed as credible, Calderon was feared to have torn a leg muscle.
Hmm…wonder where those bloggers got the idea that Calderon had a torn muscle. Oh wait...

José Calderón es un jugador desafortunado
Jose Calderon just became a little more untradeable. This guy can’t catch a break, when he’s not being shoved in a trade to any team that’ll take him, he’s tearing his hamstring or some other muscle in his leg, which was the case on Sunday (video, see if you can spot it, I can’t). Not to be insensitive to the situation, but this further proves that...

Calderon Out of Basketball Worlds
And so it begins. Another international basketball player on their respective country’s team who hurt themselves, only to now have it impact their respective NBA club. This time (and again) Jose falls victim to the summer injury bug.

The defensive stopper is overrated
Injecting one good-to-great defensive player as a remedy for a poor defensive unit sounds like a bad strategy, and it is. Two years ago we added Jermaine O’Neal, a fine rebounder and a great shot-blocker and hoped that it would help our defensive fragilities, but little did it matter. Individually, O’Neal did well averaging 2 blocks and 7 rebounds in less than 30 minutes...

Why Can’t Jarrett Be Our PG of the Future?
New RR Member “thatpeterjerk” comes to the defense of Jarrett Jack stating his opinion that Jarrett can certainly be our point guard for years to come and be successful just as long as we surround him with the proper pieces. What are your thoughts?

Can a Raptor finish top ten in any statistical category?
Quick one for a Saturday which starts with a violent story. Some guy from ESPN came to my house, took a battering ram to my door, held my baby hostage, put a gun to my head, and asked me to answer some questions about the Miami Heat. I thought about it hard but finally did it. It’s published in this big article on ESPN, I tried to be brief and courteous but my disdain for...

Amir Johnson’s PER-company is surprising
Confession time. One time I got totally stoned, blasted Wu-Tang in my 1990 Chevy Corsica, and acted like this. Can’t quite figure out how to process that video, the first reaction is to wonder why raptors.com would even put a video like that online, the second is to question whether these guys can ever be serious about things, and the third is trying to find precedent of...

NBA.com Thinks Bargnani Is Not A Marquee Player
What did T-Mac, VC, Bosh have in common? None could carry the Raptors to the promised land. The Raptors are now on the hunt for another marquee player, but NBA.com don’t think Bargnani will necessarily fit that mold.

Striving for equitable shot-distribution
Trying to find Raptors news this time of the year is akin to a polar bear hunting for seals in the middle of the summer, and if you know your polar bears, you’d know that’s very hard. Since the ice is all melted and watery, polar bears don’t have a platform to hunt for seals and can die of starvation. There’s no threat of starvation here because even if we...

Two Raptors stories
I used to work at Playdium in Mississauga a long time ago. I’m on my break one day so I go to the mezzanine and the bar area to check out the quality of selection for that evening. I see two tall black gentlemen leaning on the bar looking down towards the playing area and something strikes me about one of them. He’s got a really weird head. Not Sarah Jessica Parker...

Has Bargnani’s Defense Really Not Improved Over this Summer?
Some apparently think so. Albeit, these opinions seem to be entirely based on YouTube clips from Italy’s international play recently. Nevertheless, some Raptors fans are still concerned but maybe not necessarily regarding his defense but his struggles with rebounding.

The Raptors use of the D-League
Matt Hubert of DLeagueDigest is doing an analysis where he’s compiling the different ways NBA teams utilize their D-League affiliates. He asked us for our take on how the Raptors did in this regard, and as I sat down to write this post, I realized there’s not much to write about.
There are a few names that cross the mind, but it’s nothing to boast of in terms...
