Ravens stumble against the Bengals
Maybe stumble is too soft a word, perhaps fell on their faces might be a little more accurate. The Ravens faltered in all phases of the game against an opponent that was more then ready to jump on the opportunities. This was a triple loss for the Ravens. They lost a home game, the ones you're expected to win, they lost a Division game, and most importantly they lost to a Conference...

Week 5 - Ravens vs Bengals
This game will help set the tone for the AFC North this season. The Ravens are coming off of a heartbreaking loss to the Pat's, while the Bengals won out over Cleavland in overtime. It would seem to me that the Ravens just might be a little more then fired up for this game. The defense in particular hasn't been liking the way they've played and want to set the record straight.
Meanwhile...

NFL Week 4: Ravens - Patriots Wrap Up
Some thoughts on yesterday's Ravens - Patriots game.
-I
never thought I'd ever say this, but I would have liked to see
Baltimore run the ball more than they did yesterday. There were only 17
rushing attempts the entire game. Credit New England, who shut down the
run for most of the afternoon. With the exception of Ray Rice's 50 yard
scamper in the third quarter, they did a very...

Ravens lose heart breaker to Pats
Well, it was a heart breaker for Raven fans. It was a game that saw the momentum change time and time again. It came down to a 4th down pass from Joe Flacco to Mark Clayton a pass that should have been caught, that ended the Ravens chance to pull out a victory. Clayton wasn't the only reason the Ravens lost this game, there was a lot of blame to go around.
I'll sum it up this...

Ravens vs Patriots, should be the real deal
While many have been saying the Ravens haven't had a true test this season (as if the Chargers were a pushover) that will end this Sunday. The Ravens travel to Foxborough to face the Patriots, in a stadium they have never won in before. With this Ravens team I'm not too certain that they're worried about that fact very much. This is going to be a matchup of two teams that play to...

Are the Ravens for real?
This is the question that is being bandied about all throughout the media, and by fans in general. Is this Ravens team as good as they appear? Everyone knows that the Ravens have long been identified as a team with a mediocre offense and a suffocating defense. That M.O. got them to a Super Bowl victory, but they haven't been back since. Last season the team got as close as you can...

Ravens annihilate the Browns 34-3
I think everyone knew the Browns weren't a very good team coming in, but having the familiarity of being a division rival it stood a good chance of being a close game. Not! No, this one was a bit of an exercise between men and boys, the Ravens being the men of course. The game was never in doubt from the first series of the first quarter. The Ravens dominated on offense and...

Week 3, Ravens host Browns
Having the number one power ranking on ESPN's website means nothing when you're going
against a division rival. Division opponents know each other, they know each others tendencies, they know who's a player and who isn't. This isn't an automatic win for the Ravens, not even close. The Browns are coming in with an ugly mood intact. They've yet to win a game this season and know...

Ravens mid week report
I know everyone is still upset with the Ravens secondary giving up over 460 yards to Phillip Rivers and his receiving corps, and I am too. I had a hard time watching Fabian Washington play behind a receiver that is 7 inches taller then he is. If you have to go up against a taller opponent then you need to run side by side with him, a tall order no doubt, but that's the only way you...

Ravens outlast Chargers in cardiac win
The Ravens came into the heat of San Diego and battled their way to a hard fought 31-26 victory . While the game was a little less then 4 hours, I think I may have aged 4 years. This one was everything that was promised and then some. If nothing else it showed that the Ravens can play with the big boys, and beat them in their own back yard.
Phillip Rivers had a phenomenal game...

Ravens face first big test in San Diego
I've heard many people say that the Ravens win against the Chiefs wasn't such a big deal, after all it was only the Chiefs and that didn't count for much. I beg to differ, Kansas City has a whole new scheme this season and a new coach who had them playing for 60 minutes. There is no such thing as a push over in the NFL. But for those in doubt of the Ravens abilities this coming...

Steps the Ravens need to take if they want to repeat
It's been said that football can be a very simple game, and at the same time one of the most complex ever invented. You can look at it as run the ball effectively, throw the ball effectively, and prevent the other team from doing the same. If only it were that simple. The modern game of football has evolved into a chess match between offensive and defensive coordinators far more...

Ravens outlast Kansas City for opening day win
This was a bit of a strange game for a number of reasons. In the first quarter it looked like the Ravens were going to steamroll the Chiefs as the Ravens offense seemed to march down the field at will, and defensively the Ravens shut down everything the Chiefs threw at them.
At the end of the first quarter the Ravens had 167 yards of offense compared to only five for Kansas City...

Opening day draws near
At times I didn't think it would ever get here, certainly not over the long months of February, March, April and May. June and July aren't that bad because you have the OTA's and then training camp and the exhibition games. But finally the NFL season is about to begin, and hope is renewed in 32 cities across the country. (Except maybe Detroit)
I look at the first NFL game as the...

Ravens backups prove to be too much for the Falcons
I must say I was surprised that John Harbaugh choose to put his backups in for the entire game, minus a first start for Terrell Suggs and some more work for Demetrius Williams. The Ravens backup defenders held Falcon quarterback sensation Matt Ryan to -3 yards, while the backup offense drove 91 yards for a touchdown against the Falcons starting D. Maybe it was just good Karma,...

The Ravens starters have been dominant
I realize that pre-season game wins don't count for much, after all only 4 teams that have had 4 wins in pre-season have made it to the Super Bowl. But what I'm seeing with this years Ravens is dominance, on both defense and offense. The defense shuts out the Redskins, by no means a playoff team but a shutout in any NFL game is a huge accomplishment. This last game against the Panthers...

The Ravens look for better execution against the Panthers
The pre season is all about evaluation, looking at your veteran players and how they look, and more importantly assesing the abilities of the rookie players from the draft and free agency. The rookies are the future of any team, and figuring out which ones have promise is anything but an exact science. Many players excell during practice but can't seem to get the job done in actual...

Ravens still have a few problems to solve
After digesting Monday nights game against the Jets I came away with quite a few observations. First off the Ravens defense looked overpowering for the first ten minutes, then lost its edge. The Ravens offense looked great for the first ten minutes then struggled a bit. What is it? Don't the preseason game keep the players interested enough? While the defense started with an...

Ravens training camp is a success
Last season the team was coming off of an embarrassing 5-11 record and when camp started they learned that their starting quarterback had decided to retire. They were also being led by a rookie head coach and none of them knew what to expect. Those concerns seem like old history now that the team has finished its second training camp under John Harbaugh. No longer is Joe Flacco a...

The Ravens shut down the Redskins
Even though they were playing without some of their star players the Ravens were able to dominate the Washington Redskins 23-0 before 70,723 rabid fans at M&T Bank Stadium Friday night. Joe Flacco moved the offense down the field on both of his series, though the team only came away with two field goals. Backup QB Troy Smith settled down after sailing his first few passes to...

Ravens vs Redskins preseason preview
Finally, the players of the Ravens will be able to take their frustrations out on players wearing another uniform. After two weeks of pounding each other Raven players on both sides of the ball are more then ready to see how they fare against other NFL teams. Believe me this is a common feeling among nearly all of the Ravens players, and I'm sure of the Redskins players as well...

Kelly Gregg is chomping at the bit to get back
It was extremely hard for Kelly Gregg to sit and watch his team mates practice last season when he was sidelined with a knee injury that would require microsurgery to get him back to normal, which thankfully at this point he seems to be. He said it killed him to be out of the game, and he spent way too much time at the buffet. But Gregg is back as strong as ever and that should...

Will Mark Clayton be there when counted on?
Let's see, this makes 5 times in the 5 year career of Mark Clayton that he's experienced hamstring problems. The condition seems to be chronic. This time Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said there is considerable bleeding problems with Clayton's hamstring, which says he has massive tearing. We may not see Clayton again until after the regular season begins.
Thank God...
