Coco the Cancer?
Is there a cancer in Red Sox Spring Training Camp in Fort Myers this season? Not quite, but Coco Crisp expressed a desire to be traded if he couldn’t play every day with the Red Sox this season which isn’t likely given the emergence of Jacoby Ellsbury behind him.
“I want to play e...

What I'm up to while the Red Sox Times sits a little stale…
Well…between full time work, a full time family, blogging on my own about many topics, and enjoying the New England sports scene, I’ve let the Red Sox Times lag. So I’m going to take a new approach to the 2008 season. I’ll blog here occasionally. But my serious Red Sox w...

Cavs Fans: It Can Happen
With another postseason series sitting at 3-0, this time the Cleveland Cavaliers down to the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA finals, it’s time for the trailing team and their fans to call upon the ghosts of the 2004 Red Sox for inspiration.
“The Boston Red Sox were down 3-0 to the Yankees in...

A No Hitter and a Walk Off Win
Just another day in the Red Sox minor league system last night. With the big club off for the evening, leave it to Gabe Kapler’s boys in Greenville to throw up some zeros and for George Kottaras to take home ESPN Sportcenter’s top play of the day.
Down in Greenville highly touted prospe

Fake Curt Schilling?
Yesterday I stumbled upon Curt Schilling on Facebook and impressed by his use of the Internet to further his support of his charitable organizations, I happily friended “Curtis” after double checking what I could (email address, websites, birthplace) to see if it was really him or a Fake

So What's Wrong With Manny Ramirez?
I keep waiting. I keep waiting for Manny Ramirez to go on one of those superhuman rolls he’s been known for. Back in April when Manny was hitting below .200, you had to figure it was the weather, or just a slow start to the year, and that by the midway point of the season, [...]

Sox Rookie Shows Up Barry Bonds
Silencing his doubters with a torrid May, Dustin Pedroia wasted no time last night, depositing a Barry Zito fastball into the second row of the Green Monster, scoring J.D. Drew, to tie the game at 2-2. That would be the story the rest of the night as Drew and Pedroia, hitting in the top two [...]

Clay Buchholz: An Ace in the Making
A kid who looks no more than a day older than 18 is currently the top prospect in the Red Sox farm system, and one of the top, if not the top, pitching prospect in Major League Baseball. That kid is the 22-year old Clay Buchholz, who's pitching repertoire and mental make-up all point to [...]

Beckett Pounded, Sox Bats Silent
Josh Beckett was pounded for 6 runs on 10 hits over 5 tough innings in a 7-1 loss against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday in the rubber game of the series. Beckett, looking to improve upon his 9-0 record, was hit hard from the get-go.
Todd Helton started the scoring with an RBI single up the [...]

When Will This Insanity End?
This is a direct appeal to Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein, and to anyone else who runs the Red Sox.
Please end the insanity now.
Get rid of Wily Mo Pena. Now.
We simply can’t take this any more. Please get rid of him. I took an informal poll of Sox fans at Professor Thom’s last nig

Curt Schilling 2.0
Starting a blog these days is almost mainstream. I mean, if Youk can do it, then how does that make Curt the Internet guru of the clubhouse? By going 2.0 of course. Aside from hitting the Sons of Sam Horn message boards, blogging at 38pitches.com, and hanging out in a virtual world [...]

Flavor of the Month: Hot Coco
It's been no surprise to those of us watching the games that Coco has been recovering of late from a slower than slow start to the season. And I'll admit, my confidence in him waned and hit an all time low in mid-April where he stood with a .111 batting average, .179 OBP, and .167 slugging percentage. I just didn't see how he could pull it together. He seemed defeated...
