Taking them to the streets ....
Anyone who has driven the freeways around the Sacramento region the past several weeks has probably noticed the new advertising billboards featuring the Kings. You know. Like the old days? While I was returning to the office from practice a few minutes ago, I noticed a rendering of Tyreke Evans on a billboard on X and 20th, adjacent to the Capital Cities Freeway. It includes the...

Martin to sign with Dan Fegan
Being injured has been good for Kevin Martin in at least on regard: he had time to go shopping for an agent.
Martin, the Kings shooting guard who is out at least eight weeks after suffering a hairline fracture Nov. 2, said he will soon sign with agent Dan Fegan. Martin hasn't had an agent since his former one began working for the Kings, as assistant general manager Jason Levien...

Evans named Western Conference Rookie of the Month(s)
Per the Kings, who would be justified in popping champagne today in Tyreke Evans' honor (even if he can't have any). It's been quite some time since a Kings player was recognized in this way or anything close to it. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves here, but don't be shocked if they actually have a representative at All-Star weekend this year (Evans in...

Gameday: Kings (6-8) vs. Nets (0-15)
By the end of the season it's likely the New Jersey Nets won't be the worst team in the NBA.
The Nets won't go 0-82 this season.
And after Wednesday's win over the Knicks you could tell Kings coach Paul Westphal wouldn't have had a problem with the Nets winning in Portland and coming into tonight's game at 1-14.
"Whenever a team is struggling a little bit that's the time they...

In-game blog (Kings vs. New York)
HALFTIME (Kings 61, Knicks 51)
The Kings are hitting shots (51 percent from the field) and the Knicks are not (36.2 percent). Sometimes it's just that simple.
There's certainly more to their solid start, from the balanced contributions of Spencer Hawes, Andres Nocioni, and Tyreke Evans (33 points combined) to their ability to hold Danilo Gallinari scoreless in the first half....

Gameday: Kings (5-8) vs. Knicks (3-11)
Tyreke Evans is questionable for tonight's game because of a sprained right ankle.
If Evans can play against a Knicks team that is among the worst defensive teams in the NBA, he has a chance to break a Sacramento-era record.
If Evans scores 20 points tonight, it would be his eighth straight game doing so. That would surpass the seven-straight games by Lionel Simmons during the...

Webber uses the "cowtown" word
Long-time Kings fans remember Phil Jackson's description of Sacramento - an "old cow town."
That word was uttered again this week when former Kings forward Chris Webber was interviewed by Colin Cowherd on his nationally syndicated ESPN Radio morning show.
"If anybody's has been in that position and made the choice to stay in a cowtown, it was me," Webber said Tuesday.
The answer...

Nocioni update
Here's what Kings coach Paul Westphal had to say about forward Andres Nocioni, who missed last night's game with a right hip pointer:
"He practiced some. We held him out after a while. I think the nature of that injury is you don't want to overdo it and get bumped again. But I'd say he's a little more likely to play next game than he was last game but he's probably questionable...

Kings considering Okafor
A source with knowledge of the situation says the Kings are discussing a trade with New Orleans that would send Kenny Thomas to the Hornets and bring center Emeka Okafor to Sacramento.
The deal would be ideal for the Hornets, as Thomas' expiring contract worth $8.7 million is just the kind of contract that would trim their enormous payroll. The question, of course, is whether...
