Gallery Won’t Apologize For Cut Block Vs Broncos
The News Tribune reports that Hawks guard Robert Gallery isn’t going to say sorry for a block on Denver DT Brodrick Bunkley that sprained his knee.
The play probably looked worse than it was – Seattle guard Robert Gallery peeling back to cut Denver defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley on a screen pass. Gallery caught Bunkley at the knees. Denver coach John Fox, said Bunkley sprained...

Williams’ Presence Led To Seahawks’ Interest In WR Sidney Rice
Dan Pompei of the National Football Post reports part of the reason the Seahawks were so interested in Sidney Rice was the presence of Mike Williams.
The team believes having the 6-4, 202 pound Rice and the 6-5, 235 pound Williams will create many matchup problems for defenses. Both receivers get good body position and box out smaller defenders. They are a little different after...

Seattle Seahawks Waive Kentwan Balmer
The Kentwan Balmer era is over in Seattle, the team announced that they have waived the former first round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers.
The Seahawks dealt a sixth round draft pick last season in exchange for Balmer.
I would consider the move somewhat surprising because Balmer started 11 games for the Seahawks and logged in a decent 46 tackles last season. I remember back...

Seattle Seahawks Have Five Players In ESPN’s Top 200
Although it does take awhile to get their highest ranked player (Chris Clemons at No. 99) the Seattle Seahawks have five players who rank amongst the top 200 players according to ESPN.
Along with Clemons, recently acquired Sidney Rice (No. 124) , Zach Miller (No. 175), as well as Russell Okung (149) and Marcus Trufant (199) make the cut as well.
I wouldn’t find this to be shameful...

Seattle Seahawks and Aaron Curry to Part Ways in Near Future?
When he was selected No. 4 overall in the 2009 draft as the second highest linebacker selected (LaVar Arrington) in recent memory and handed a 6 year, $60 million deal, it goes without saying good and eventually great things were expected out of Aaron Curry.
It goes without saying that great things have not come to pass.
Which is why it should surprise no one that Pete Carroll has...

Only So Many Hours In a Day
For as much positive feedback I have gotten when the site was active (and some still when it went semi-dormant) I have gotten as much criticism for it trailing off after I got sick.
It’s a fair volume of critique, some warranted, most not. As editor of this site it is my duty to make sure there is fresh content on this sight as often as possible and over the past 10-12 days I have...

Seattle Seahawks Sign Linebacker David Vobora
After losing out on Ben Leber to the division rival Rams the Seahawks have signed away a guy who likely lost his role to the incoming Leber.
Announced today was the signing of linebacker David Vobora, meaning Seattle finally found that elusive backup linebacker they have been trying to snatch all off-season.
They have pursued Takeo Spikes and Ben Leber this off-season, as well as...

New Seahawks Safety Atari Bigby: I’m Not the Starter
I seem to remember a time back in 2007 on a snow drudged field when a guy named Atari Bigby changed the game defensively for the Green Bay Packers by just absolutely steamrolling the Seahawks offense. I can’t pull up his statistics from the game, (I tried), but I remember him causing at least one and I am almost positive multiple turnovers during a game when Seattle started up...

Hawks Ink Veteran Safety Atari Bigby
The Seahawks announced that they have signed veteran safety Atari Bigby Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed.
A former undrafted free agent out of Central Florida, the 5-foot-11, 213-pound Bigby has spent the last six seasons with the Green Bay Packers, totaling 164 tackles and 10 interceptions in 46 games. Seahawks general manager John Schneider worked in the Packers’ front office...

Seattle Seahawks Should Pursue John Stinchcomb Immediately
I have to admit I was very surprised to see that the New Orleans Saints decided to cut pro bowl offensive tackle John Stinchcomb today.
Despite battling nagging injuries, he still started 16 games and was the most consistent presence the team had at tackle. He is one year removed from a pro bowl season.
Not often does a player of his caliber hit the market at this time in the pre...

LB Curry Ready to Live Up to Expectations
High expectations come with high draft picks, especially when you’re the highest-picked player at your position in nearly a decade.
That’s what happened to Wake Forest outside linebacker Aaron Curry when the Seahawks selected him fourth overall in the 2009 draft.
Not since Penn State’s LaVar Arrington was taken second overall by the Washington Redskins in 2000 had a college...

Writer Down
Sorry the blog has been so slow guys. It’s editor helped a friend move and part of that was cleaning out a storage unit that hasn’t been touched in 20+ years. I must have caught something while inside that storage unit, because since than I have been as ill as I have been since catching the swine flu at WAZZU. It’s going on day 6 now and it’s been horrendous. I will spare...

Seahawks Who Need to Shine Against the Chargers
Entering the game today, the top of the depth chart is fairly set in stone. Aside from injuries, the players you see take the field first are more than likely going to be the same players taking the field first in four weeks.
The backups and third stringers have a situation similar to the gravel paving method they’re using to resurface the road outside my house. A lot of loose...

Seahawks Tackles on the Move: Locklear-Redskins, Willis-Dolphins
I have been incredibly busy helping a friend move so I missed on reporting Locklear to Washington yesterday. That has indeed happened, he was not expected to return to Seattle after they drafted tackle James Carpenter in the first round. A starter for the Super Bowl team and regarded as one of the leagues better pass blockers, he was incredibly solid during his time here.
Another...

Rumors: Seattle Seahawks and Dashon Goldson
What was envisioned as a potential long term at the solution has suddenly turned into a chopping block for the 49ers as starting safety Dashon Goldson has let it be known he will not be returning to the team.
Taylor Mays is also expected to be traded or released, he was drafted in the second round just two drafts ago.
Goldson is a former Washington Husky and the Seahawks have...

Jordan Babineuax Spurns Titans, Returns to Seahawks
Glad I waited on this one I guess?
Earlier reports had Seattle free agent safety Jordan Babineuax agreeing to terms with what’s quick becoming Seahawks East, the Tennessee Titans. He has in fact actually agreed to return to the Seahawks, according to multiple sources.
His agent actually confirmed that Babs had decided to sign with the Titans, and that he had taken less money...

Seahawks: Will Pete Carroll and Taylor Mays Have an Awkward Reunion?
If you’re reading this you probably already know about the fact former USC safety Taylor Mays threw a media tantrum blasting his former head coach Pete Carroll about not being selected with the 14th overall selected when he didn’t even get draft until 49th overall.
It’s hard to say if this anger is justified, considering every other team in the NFL didn’t use a first...

Seattle Seahawks Close to Signing Ben Leber
The Seattle Seahawks are one of four teams attempting to sign for Vikings linebacker Ben Leber.
This news shouldn’t come as a surprise, Seattle lost Will Herring to the Saints and cut starting inside linebacker Lofa Tatupu.
At a position that has suffered it’s fair share of injuries the last couple years, Leber brings durability; not missing a game since 2006. He has started...

Also announced, and somewhat of a relieving announcement, was the signing of former Steelers and 49ers kicker Jeff Reed.

New York Giants Taking Osi Umenyiora Off Trading Block
Just a Great Picture
A Baltimore area newspaper created a flurry of rumors with a report that the New York Giants had lowered the asking price for defensive end Osi Umenyiora from a first round draft choice to a second rounder.

Hawks Add Veteran Kicker Jeff Reed to Roster
The Seahawks have made an interesting personnel move, picking up veteran kicker Jeff Reed Wednesday.
The move doesn’t mean the team will keep two kicker, it simply means the team will be able to choose between youth and experience. Reed’s weight was an issue when the veteran kicker was filling in for an injured Joe Nedney in San Francisco last season.
Reed’s best work came...
