Thoughts on Mariner Movement
So like you read everywhere else the Mariners made the first move of the spring. Yada, yada, yada. It’s not very interesting. Liddi, Robles, Peguero, Chavez, Petit and Paxton. We can all pretty much agree we aren’t surprised by any of the moves, at least in the sense that none of them were going to make the major league squad.

Dont Sleep On Me: Nick Hill
Like a few other guys in this system Nick Hill had kind of a down year in terms of what we all expected and has generally been forgotten about.
Some had thought they he might even have an appereance in Seattle by the end of the year and most thought he eventually end up in Seattle. Fangraphs’ Marc Hulet had ranked him as the Mariners #7 prospect going into 2010.

Erik Bedard: More Results, Less Exciting
REMINDER: Spring Training is not about stats. So when you see that Erik Bedard struck out another 4 guys through two innings you have to look at it beyond the results. Such as he threw 34 pitches. 21 pitches for strikes and 13 pitches for balls, all of a sudden it’s a little less impressive. Then, you look at two strikeouts that were on full counts and a walk.

Geoff Baker Interviews MLB Network

Lefty vs. Lefty
So, my immediate thought after reading the tweet that we had traded for Laffey was how did he really differ from French? Both are left-handed, both are 25 and Jack Zduriencik says both are getting an opportunity to fight for that fifth starter spot. So it just seems to be repetitive.
