Terry Pendleton Is Not a Bad Hitting Coach*
* Or at least, there is no evidence to suggest that he has been in the past.
Human nature dictates that someone must be to blame when well-made plans go awry. For some reason (convenience?), this scapegoat is always a single person, even when the fault clearly lies with a group, or with an organizational flaw that transcends any one member.
Nowhere is this trend more obvious--or...

A Different Take On The Logan Gray Situation.
I've always been fond of the old saying "you can't truly know someone until you walk a mile in their shoes." I'm even more fond of the addendum "then if you still don't like that person, who cares? You're already a mile away, and you have his shoes."
All of which is a roundabout way of saying that there's a perspective on this Logan Gray...

Atlanta Falcons 2010 NFL Draft Grades

(AP Photo/Frank Franklin II) Browse more photos » From high atop my mountain lair, I have heard your cries for Dave Choate's 2010 NFL Draft grades. Is 2010 the Worst Baseball Season in the Georgia Bulldogs' History?

Retrospective on Kovalchuk to Devils Trade
The Ilya Kovalchuk saga came to an end last week as the New Jersey Devils were ousted by the 7th seeded Philadelphia Flyers in the 1st round. The "Kovalchuk Question" (will he stay or will he go?) was one of the main story lines for the Thrashers.
To quickly recap that drama: The Thrashers asked Ilya's opinion on UFAs and he actively courted players who signed here...

Braves lose their 6th straight, fall to the Birds 4-3
This is starting to hurt. View full size photo » What a crappy game. It looked like the Braves' offense was coming around after scoring 2 runs in the 3rd inning and then another in the 4th inning. Troy Glaus was showing his singles POWAH. Melky Cabrera was swinging the bat well. Nate McLouth ripped a double down the RF line. And Yunel Escobar had some great ABs in the...

And Then There Was One?: Logan Gray's Possible Departure Would Mean Aaron Murray Was the Lead Dawg
I'll be honest with you . . . I heard Buck and Kincade talking about it during my drive home, and I rolled my eyes at the absurdity of it. It was just another preposterous bit of rumor-mongering to fill air time . . . until we got confirmation that Logan Gray is . . . what, exactly?
The early word would seem to be that Gray is as good as gone, but this may prove to be much ado...

Open Thread 4/26 - Braves at Cardinals
Hello again, everybody.
The Braves and Cardinals kick off a 4-game series in St. Louis tonight. The weather is pretty crappy with temps in the 50s and a "spitting" rain.
On the mound for the Braves is Timmy Hudson and the Cardinals will counter with Kyle Lohse. Let's all pray to Heyward and Pujols the Braves can continue to rough up the struggling righty.

Like Larry King, I Have a Softball Question to Ask You
In the interests of equal time, I am going to try to be upbeat about University of Georgia athletics. This will be difficult to do, since the Bulldogs are performing poorly in nearly every sport, but I’m going to make an effort. Consequently, I am turning my attention to softball. Yes, softball.
Were you aware that the Georgia softball team is 40-8, ranked tenth in the country...

Ryan Howard to terrorize Braves for five more years
Ryan Howard to terrorize Braves for five more years
Five years, $125 million, with a optional sixth year at $23M. I think it's a very fair contract, because essentially, he's going to be making roughly the dollar amount for his best years' performances guaranteed for the next five, maybe six. Bottom line is that he'll be a Phillie for the next five years, and he&...

TMI 2010: Alec Ogletree
Despite the gloomy post mortems, gnashing of teeth and scattered cries of "meh" surrounding Georgia's 2010 football recruiting class, it bears noting that there appear to be some legitimate impact players in this class. One of the things that gets obscured in the excitement of Signing Day is a cold reality: not only will a lot of the guys who sign not make it big, the...

Is Terry Pendleton really the problem?
Okay, playing devil's advocate here.
With the Atlanta Braves mired in an abysmal offensive slump which has resulted in five straight losses, many TCers are naturally, pointing their finger at our hitting coach, Terry Pendleton. It's well documented his tendencies to instruct Braves hitters to "be aggressive," which many have believed to have been the cause of the...
