Vikings waive Cooper; add new center
The Vikings final roster cutdown on Saturday left center Jon Cooper as the only undrafted rookie free agent to make the team.
But Cooper’s time on the 53-man roster proved brief. On Sunday, the Vikings waived him and signed center Kory Lichtensteiger.

Report: Lions claim McCauley
The Detroit Lions claimed Marcus McCauley off waivers after the cornerback was waived by the Vikings in their final roster cutdown on Saturday, according to the Detroit News. The News cited league sources in its report.

Now that the Vikings have established their 53-man roster, the team can start signing players to their eight-man practice squad at 11 a.m.

Ex-Viking suspended by NFL
Defensive end Erasmus James, the second of the Vikings’ two first-round picks in 2005, has been indefinitely suspended by the NFL, according to ProFootballTalk.com. James is not currently with an NFL team.

Report: Booty waived
Jason La Canfora of NFL Network is reporting via twitter that the Vikings have waived John David Booty. We’re trying to confirm it.
This does not come as a surprise given what happened in Friday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Booty would be eligible for the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Childress: QB play ‘at times embarrassing’
Vikings coach Brad Childress obviously was not happy with some of the things he saw from his backup quarterbacks Friday in a 35-31 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Vikings lead the Cowboys 21-7 at halftime. Tarvaris Jackson started the game and completed 2 of 4 passes for 42 yards and a 36-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Dugan.

Reynaud returns punt for TD

Favre fined $10,000 by NFL
Quarterback Brett Favre has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for the crackback block he threw on Monday night in the Vikings’ preseason victory at Houston.
