Hello!

My name is Kelsey McCarson.  Amongst other things, I am a boxing writer for The Sweet Science.  I have been a boxing writer for a few years now.  You may have seen some of my work over at The Boxing Tribune, Fox Sports, and, of course, The Sweet Science. I live just outside of Houston, Texas with my kindergarten-turned-boxing-photographer wife, Rachel. We travel around Texas and cover fights

"Hammerin" Hank Lundy talks with The Boxing Tribune

Our friend Gary Purfield, of The Boxing Tribune, caught up with "Hammerin" Hank last week to get this interview.  Lundy is always a good interview, and we thought you might enjoy this. Lundy is fighting Dannie Williams this Friday on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights.

Ann Wolfe's training methods aren't as tough as you think...

Well not in this video anyway... Here is video I took of James Kirkland and Ann Wolfe in the ring at the Savannah Boxing Club in Houston, Texas on March 21, 2012. Kirkland and Wolfe were there for an open workout session in anticipation of their March 24th fight against Carlos Molina.Great to see two of arguably the toughest and most fierce people in the sport (inside the ring anyway) loosening

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO / JEAN MARC MORMECK PRESS CONFERENCE- DUSSELDORF GERMANY

If you aren't subscribed to the Klitschko brothers' YouTube channel, you are missing out.  They update it pretty regularly with some pretty slick video.  Their latest offering is from the Wlad vs Mormeck press conference. Pretty much all of the videos they post are like this: highly stylized but usually very interesting.

February Pound for Pound Vote

As some of you know, we at The Boxing Tribune are responsible for the monthly P4P list over at FoxSports.com.  I take the responsibility very seriously -- well as much as one could possibly do for something as relatively silly as a P4P Boxing list. Still, I try and treat it as great of an honor to contribute to it as I perceive it to be for fighters who make it on list...

What Paul Williams Should Do Next

Williams takes swing at Ishida /  photo credit R. McCarson Paul Williams (41-2, 27 KOs) blanked Nobuhiro Ishida impressively a couple weeks back.  After the fight, Williams met with the media to discuss his future plans.  What here they?  Simple. "Big fights," he said. Names he bandied about after the press conference included middleweights Sergio Martinez and Julio...

Will the WBC strip Julio Cesar Chavez Jr?

Fans were not thrilled with the WBC when they essentially stripped middleweight champion Sergio Martinez to make him "champion emeritus".  The WBC then elevated undefeated but unspectacular Sebastian Zbik whom they immediately mandated face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in a title bout.  So basically, it looks like they rigged everything to get Chavez Jr the title which...

5 Best Boxing Sites

I'm always interested in hearing what boxing fans think are the best 5 boxing sites out there on the web.  Face it, there is a lot of garbage out there.  After all my hounding of people through facebook, message boards and the like, I feel confident in putting these sites down as the best of the very best. As a writer for The Boxing Tribune, I left our wonderful site off this list because I

Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. vs Marco Antonio Rubio Photo Gallery

Here are some pics I took from the auxiliary media section at the fight.  The fight was in the cavernous Alamo Dome but they had it set up on one side only.  Lots of folks came out and it was a very good card.  You can read my post-fight coverage here. This was the first time I used our new digital SLR camera.  I played around with the exposure settings and came up with some...

Atlas is a Man of Integrity

In this first edition of what may very well end up being my semi-regular "article of the week" post, The Boxing Tribune's Fox Doucette lays down why Teddy Atlas is being a man of integrity by letting Alexander Povetkin go his own way and why we need more of that kind of thing in the sport.  Great points all the way around.  He also reported me reporting what Michael...

The Boxing Tribune's Heavyweight Rankings - Best in the Sport

Hey Fight Fans! Check out the latest heavyweight rankings at The Boxing Tribune. Unlike the other guys rankings, notice no one seems oddly misplaced. And notice how we only recognize the real champions so Alexander Povetkin (the WBA "regular" champ) is listed like he should be listed. Remember, Wladimir Klitschko defeated David Haye to become WBA champ before said organization...

Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. vs Peter Manfredo, Jr. Photo Gallery

Hey fight fans! I covered the Chavez, Jr. fight live this Saturday in Houston, Texas on behalf of www.theboxingtribune.com.  My work was used at Fox Sports so that was awesome, as was the experience of covering a big time fight live and in person. It really was one of the greatest experiences of my life.  I am so very thankful. Here are some of the pictures I took during fight night.  Enjoy
