The Backdoor Cover: The Super Bowl
You guys hear there’s some sort of a game this weekend?
You know what I do every year between the last Championship game and sometime towards the end of the marathon Super Bowl pre-game show? I DO NOT WATCH NFL COVERAGE. This will be my third straight year and I gotta tell ya, it’s fantastic. No longer do I care about what made up quotes or storylines they’ve had time to comeâ...

2012 NFL Mock Draft: Pre Super Bowl Update
Posted our first 2012 NFL mock draft last week but it only went through pick No. 18. Got some good feedback on that draft and came back strong today with picks all the way through No. 30.
Only two teams left to figure out in the first round, and those are your Super Bowl teams — New York Giants and New England Patriots. Speaking of that game, I just wanted to thank the football...

The Backdoor Cover: Championship Weekend Picks
It’s time for the second to last gambling column of the year, so let’s not waste each others time.
I have four picks this week. I guarantee 3-1. I’ve spent a lot of time reading Game of Thrones trying to figure out what game I will lose. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten to that part in the series. Regardless, If you wager half a million dollars on each of these...

2012 NFL Mock Draft, Picks 1 – 18
As the NFL postseason marches toward the Super Bowl, most teams and fanbases now have their attention fixed squarely on the offseason. That is because they are not playing football anymore this season.
Sure, there still are a few big football games to watch (minus the Pro Bowl). But if you are not a fan of the Giants, 49ers, Ravens or Patriots, there really is only one thing to look...

The Backdoor Cover: NFL Divisional Round Weekend
5-3 last week and won my biggest bet of the weekend with the NY Giants. Felt I lost a tough one with the Lions who were getting 10.5 and winning at halftime but that is the chance you take going against the New Orleans Saints.
Finally, I completely whiffed on the most exciting playoff win of all-time by a preseason 4th string quarterback by taking the Steelers against Denver. What...

Daily Haze: LSU vs. Alabama Tonight
In case you forgot, LSU and Alabama square off tonight in the BCS Championship Game in New Orleans.
Being that most of The Hazean’s staff lives in Louisiana and went to LSU, you can understand our rooting interest tonight (Geaux Tigers!). One of our writers went down to FanFest in New Orleans yesterday and gave it to an Alabama fan. Blaine is the guy in the purple polo and...

Daily Haze: Tebow Time Now, But Demaryius Thomas Time Next Season
After backing into the playoffs, the Denver Broncos were heavy underdogs at home on Sunday against the Steelers. Didn’t matter. With Tim Tebow under center, Denver pulled off a miracle upset — in overtime, of course — at home.
It only took one play in OT:
Not to be lost here was the contribution of Demaryius Thomas on the play. Forget Tebow for a second: Thomas...

The Backdoor Cover: NFL Wildcard Weekend
The playoffs are here! The playoffs are here!
I love college football. I have many friends who only follow college and turn their noses up to the professional game. I’m fine with that if it’s your preference. However, what I can’t take is someone who prefers the collegiate postseason to the NFL. They are certifiably insane.
It’s no argument. There is nothing better...

Start & Sit, Week 17: For Those Still Playing Fantasy Football
There are pros and cons to playing fantasy football all the way through Week 17.
The pros obviously are that you get another week of fake football, more than the majority of us who wrap up our seasons in Week 16. That’s one more week of smack talk, one more week of anticipation and anxiety, one more potential week of winning.
But the cons outweigh the pros, in my opinion. No...

Daily Haze: Looking Back at Some Preseason Predictions
Just a quick update today on the state of affairs here at The Hazean: I currently am having some issues with a recent WordPress update that is preventing my editor from acting normally. Therefore, until I can figure out a work-around, posting here will become scarce.
Which I guess is not that big of a deal since the fantasy football season pretty much ended this past weekend...

Been meaning to go check my YTD Won/Loss record – I’m positive I’m in the black (never a doubt) and last week went 5-2. In next week’s season finale, I’ll unveil the final numbers.
Liked the Colts last night (<a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/#!/bryan_CTP"twitter evidence here) but not enough to make an official play and turn in my picks...

Daily Haze: Week 15 Waiver Wire Adds
First weekend of the fantasy football playoffs are in the books. Only a few fantasy owners in each league have something to play for now. Those owners still need to work the waiver wire to replaced any injured players or block opponents from finding some free agent help.
Here are players to add this week:
Felix Jones, RB, Cowboys
Ryan Grant, RB, Packers
Marion Barber/Khalil Bell...

Daily Haze: Late Week 13 Waiver Wire Adds
Sorry for the lateness of this post. The wife and I flew to Maryland for Thanksgiving with my family then drove to New York City for some weekend fun before returning to New Orleans yesterday.
It was a whirlwind. Good to be home again. Hope you and yours had a nice holiday. And I hope your fantasy team is either (A) already in the playoffs or (B) punching a ticket to the playoffs...

Start & Sit, Week 12: Happy Thanksgiving Edition
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hope everyone has a safe, enjoyable turkey day. Do not forget to set your fantasy football lineups before Thursday’s action, which should be loaded with good games for a change. Detroit/Green Bay is must-see television, as is the nightcap between Baltimore and San Francisco.
Due to the holiday, there is no formal start/sit story today. But if you have last...

Daily Haze: Sneaky Waiver Wire Adds for Week 12
Slim pickings on the waiver wire this week, other than Kevin Smith of course.
With bye weeks over and many owners out of playoff contention, the waiver wire will be a less active place in the coming weeks. But owners still in the hunt should continue to be active. For those in keeper/dynasty formats, these sneaky waiver wire adds may be more suitable for you:
Jake Locker, QB, Titans...

Daily Haze: Week 12 Waiver Wire Adds
Internet back on at the house just in time for football this weekend — Thank God! — so I was able to keep up with my fantasy teams this week.
Not that you care about my teams, but I feel like I need to validate what I do here on the blog from time-to-time: 9-2 in my main keeper league, clinched a playoff spot last week and one win away from clinching a first-round bye...
